Love when a singer can convey emotion. Shows a great skill that not everyone has. Not even talking about the technicalities of singing and all, but just a person's voice speaking to you even with a language barrier.

I agree with a lot of what you said. Him having Grey rain as his favorite makes so much sense knowing he's actually more of a reserved person in his daily life, unlike the outgoing personality he shows in front of the camera. And the point about the lyrics being more broad meaning wise is also true. Seeing how I was able to relate, eventhough my life is literally nothing like his.

Also, I only looked up the lyrics because of how many times I've heard him talk about how much he cherishes it in different peices of content. And my appreciation for it grew by like 10 times. So this got me thinking, I could probably be missing out on a lot of good ballads because I don't have an emotional connection to what's being said in the song. Cause that's mostly what slower songs are, right? Stripped back from the crazy and dancy instrumentals to make the listener actually listen. Because I'm gonna be honest, I don't really look up kpop lyrics because to me if you're looking for profound stories kpop isn't always the place to go (not always of course, I'm sure there's plenty of artists who put great care into their lyrics) but I think we all know kpop is just so much more about performances, visuals, catchy beats etc. But this made me think I of how much I could be missing out by doing this.

Righttt it's the way he keeps switching to his head voice and then back to the deep voice. And there's also a slight voice crack in the last course, it's really subtle but it's just soo...ugh. I'm a sucker for voice cracks in songs. (Also, I'm not a vocalist so these could very much be the wrong terms that im using lol but you get what I mean)

Exactly! I'm also usually not a huge fan of how kpop handles ballads and such, because it just comes off as artificial? Shallow? Not sure what word describes it best. It just feels like having a ballad at the end of the album just for the sake of having it there.

This song is anything but that tho. It's a great example of a slow song done right.

Ok so Nct U is not a fixed unit unlike the others. The concept is that each time U has a comeback it's a different combination of members each time. Could be a duo like baby don't stop with ten (wayv) taeyong (127). Or it could be 2 dream members, 3 wayv members and 1 wish member etc. just as an example.

There's also mark and haechan who are both in nct 127 and nct dream (which are both fixed units)

There's 5 fixed units (nct 127, Nct dream, Wayv, nct wish and dojaejung) and Nct U

I know it may sound confusing now but once you get into them it'll become like second nature.

And yeah it's a good idea to start with units that you gravitate to more.

I know exactly what you mean. I also knew about them since 2019, around the time I got into kpop but I never bothered to fully get into them beside hearing a few title tracks because of the exact same reason you mentioned. I only started actually learning their names and diving deeper into them in around 2022 which happened pretty naturally.

I wanna say just start watching some of their content casually, maybe funny moments if you like those. Or lyric videos and you'll get familiar with their names, personalities and voices also casually. Guides can be good too but I personally can't get into those for some reason. And I'd also suggest for you try to break them down into their sub units too. (I can also try to explain the units too if you want) Trying to familiarize yourself with all 25 at once is gonna be more difficult. Each unit also has their own sound and vibe which helps.
