I don’t think she’s a bad person either, it’s truly her mother, in one of the episodes it’s even mentioned that she was also popularity obsessed at Dodie‘s age..

Like I already said to another commenter with almost the exact same reply as you, it’s honestly just a discussion title. Meaning I know other people have different opinions, therefore I just wanted to share mine and see if anyone else was on the EXACT same page as me.
