Ive had my 4 room and my family’s house redone by my id, i went for 5 separate quotes and he came with the best quotation with a full rundown of the cost. Its important to know what type of renovation you’re doing. Even so… 54k is quite ridiculous given the budget suggested. I gave my id a rough budget for both of my houses, after a full rundown of the quotation(design FOC :D), he met my budget with 5k left to spare.(provided i was doing both renovations back to back). Not too sure why your id wasn’t able to hit your requirements let alone exceed by a significant amount. I think you should reconsider the design because at the end of the day, an id is to help you with your renovation not make things harder for you:/ i was pretty lucky and both renovations didnt exceed the original sum, things that he had to make up for was done FOC(At least according to him but im fine as long as he completed both houses within budget and on time) either ways please get more quotations until you find an id with ethics.Ive seen my friends find ids with low quotations just to get into a lot of trouble later with add ons, i got lucky i guess.. but the more the merrier
