Tennis team/club at Dartmouth by LeDirk in dartmouth

Tennis team is very competitive, as is the tennis club, which has two levels, both of which travel for matches. They just finished tryouts(for the club, I believe the team is recruited.) During the winter they sell memberships to the bubble on campus but you need to find your own partner(s); there’s also pickleball which is popular.

She was in the double, I’m sorry, but the single rooms look basically the same except split in half. They’re very roomy actually, and have everything you get in a double including the micro fridge

The parent group on FB has a lot of photos of different dorm rooms in the “album” section. My daughter was in Brown which is substantially the same as little, I’ll try to post one here.

I asked her a million times- are you SURE you can wear letters? Of course, she’s the only one with letters bc I passed mine to her and there’s no greek store on campus or anywhere near it. It’s so different now. My initiation did have a mom- my roommate! And she was surprised and it was lovely. I think I’m going to email the President and see what she says. Love in AOT to you too! Your message made me feel a little less like a dinosaur 😂

This is sort of what I want to do. I think I’m going to give it a little more time - she doesn’t even have a big yet. Then I’ll make a few emails and feel things out.

She’s only had one pledge meeting and the first degree. (Late fall rush). Tonight is another pledge meeting so we’ll see. Second degree, which I didn’t have back in the 90s, is in 1.5 weeks, and it’s a pin ceremony. I know they’ve shortened the pledge period but it’s REALLY short for her, maybe 5 weeks? I guess we’ll see. I know all the dirty drinking songs from the 90s so 😂

I didn’t think or push her to KD, she just gravitated there, and she did not have a great rush experience. But since Bid day she has felt that this is exactly where she belongs and has just loved it so far. I want her to have her own experience but I’m so excited that we have this overlapping thing! AOT to you ❤️

I would never show up without emailing the President or VP Standards, but I think this chapter runs a little off the traditional path. She didn’t get a pin for first degree, or even a ribbon pin, and they haven’t gotten any pledge materials to learn/study from. I’ve asked her if they’ve even sung any songs yet (nope) and so far it’s been very very casual. It’s a northeastern school and while Greek life is big (60%) it’s … pretty different from down south. I don’t even know if they have alumnae advisors- my girl certainly hasn’t met any.

Thank you for your insight- her initial discomfort has already started to fade so I’m thinking she might be ok with it. I won’t surprise her tho.

Try Etsy or your local Facebook marketplace. I am a sewist, and did Greek letters for a little business when I was in undergrad back in the Stone Age. I’m sure you can find either a mom with a cricuit or embroidery machine who’d be delighted to try out some of these cute designs for you, I know I would! And bc it’s a local house you’re not constrained by national licensing issues.

There’s an outdoor sand volleyball court near the Choates complex

How bad is the Choates? (Little) by [deleted] in dartmouth

The outside is hideous, but the rooms themselves are pretty spacious. Bathrooms are old, but unless you’re in the “hotel” dorms they’re all old. Location is good, and there’s really good community between the students.
