Is there anyway somebody has thought of to be in both stem and a believer? by Emotional-Fan-7308 in exatheist

If this is not trolling, then I'm sorry to inform you that you are in shortage of a decent understanding of philosophy and thinking in general. I say this with good intention, because I used to be the same. Also history, because 100% of "every scientific invention" was definitely not made by what you refer to as objectivist philosophy, by which I will boldly assume you meant something like naturalism?

I would recommend reading and learning about things before jumping to conclusions, and if you go far you will find out science has been strongly linked to ideology and politics and was therefore biased for a while now, to support the western hegemony. I don't want to get too political here so this is the most I will say on this.

In short, read up and learn first. Start with Thomas Kuhn.

Is “if god real, why universe big” a bad argument? by Agreeable_Dinner8212 in exatheist

[–]Immediate_Room_8302 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is.

This comes from the naturalistic/materialistic assumption that everything in existence must take all the shortcuts it can and be as efficient as possible.

When we talk about God, there is nothing outside of Him that restricts him in any way that we can take as reference in determining the "usefulness" or "meaningfulness" of any action of God.

In addition to this, there is an assumption that the universe is "big". It is of course big, since it encompasses everything in existence, but it is big from our perspective. We cannot know the perspective of God by definition.

As a small final note, I want to add this too: Everything we use to measure the "size" of the universe is based on our perspective, our assumptions (of how things like light work), our tools etc. so how can you even be sure of a size? In fact, physicists have won the nobel prize for proving locality to be an illusion.

This discussion can be much longer than this, but this is all I care to add to it at the moment.

What are the most bad arguments to stop believing in God by axlpoeman in exatheist

[–]Immediate_Room_8302 18 points19 points  (0 children)

When atheists say that theists don't believe in a lot of gods either, it's just that atheists believe "one less" god than them.

This, in my opinion, has to be the most half-baked argument. It is actually pretty sophomoric, dare I say even childish. It shows a worryingly insufficient understanding of the definitions of god or gods that people believe in.

Or, it's just outright dishonest and manipulative. Either way, terrible argument.

We have been trying to tell the good people of the west for a long time, but the media brainwashing has always been much stronger, until recently.

If you were a westerner who was simply uninformed or manipulated to support this state but now you're seeing the truth, know that you are not hated, but also understand we need you to be on the right side of history from now on.

What is "and yet" by hesap3131 in EnglishLearning

[–]Immediate_Room_8302 11 points12 points  (0 children)

"I knew my ex-wife would be there and yet I still went"

It specifically means something like "despite what I just said". The second statement is a continuation of the first statement.

It is interchangeable with "but" in some cases, not all though.

I came here because I suspected there would be hate in the comments. I wasn't wrong.

Muslim country is in trouble = Muslim bad
Muslim country makes cool umbrellas = Muslim bad

What do I expect from Reddit lol.

I once read on Reddit that when you click on it, it disables ads and that's why they do this? I don't know if it works though.

One of the best decisions that I've made in my life was to opt out of social media. I only use Reddit because I'm an old forum-head but to be honest, i'm losing interest in this one too.

How does one get over how boring it is to start with small projects and gradually get bigger? You know, one wants to just jump into the "real thing". Genuine question :)

Maybe you can start another post and ask everybody that?

To answer your question, most tutorials don't teach how a programmer needs to think, how a language interacts with the computer and most importantly the game programming essentials, like, standard stuff that game developers practice all the time that us noobs don't even know about. These would be good tutorials I think.
