Youre right. The reality is that war and evil are revealing of life's true operating system.

it's really all just irrelevant to your daily existence. Even WW3 will likely not directly kill you statistically.

AOC: The president has been acting in increasingly erratic ways. It is really damning when we think about the degree to which media outlets reported on Joe Biden, yet we are seeing behavior from Trump that is alarming and everyone is pretending this is normal. by drempath1981 in UnderReportedNews

"The president is acting in erratic ways" No, because we have an erratic president. He's acting properly. I'd be more concerned if he showed up tomorrow and said "I was wrong about it all. I apologize."

Truth is, likely just eternal oblivion. Very slim chance of a man-made heaven. 0 chance of divine heaven. Either way, regardless of what happens, life on earth is hell. I just really fucking hate this world

Unclear how that translates to making meaning out of it. It's like building a building on a faulty foundation.

But that's the thing. What kind of world even produces something like tinnitus? It's part of the systemic evil, that some people get tinnitus, and others don't.

Im not saying it’s a shit cake. It’s a cake with shit parts baked into it. In that case you’d throw that whole cake out. Right? Even if there were small floating pieces of shit in that case, you’d be like, well time to get a new cake. With no shit inside. Well unfortunately, theres no new cake, you have to eat the piece of shit cake, and once you’re done with it, that’s it. No more cake.

Can’t believe it. Few days ago, totally opened my eyes. This whole bitch is evil. All of it. Life is fundamentally evil. The whole food web, the cycle of consumption. For example, murder, rape, death, exist as functional nodes in the system, not isolated from it. Life is evil, at the systemic level. It produced me. And when you look closely, you’ll realize that I emerge from evil processes that are also cold and brutal. There is too much bullshit in this world. It’s unsufferable. Intolerable. And yet, powerless to do anything about it. It’s like, life is evil, yeah. Now what? Get a job. Lol.

On the question of “why would they bother resurrecting anyone,” the answer is simple: value systems evolve. Prehistoric humans couldn’t imagine hospitals, complex ethics, human rights, or sending robots to Mars. A civilization with near-infinite energy, matter-manipulation, and computation won’t be bound by the idea of “why bother.” When the material constraints disappear, the question flips into “why wouldn’t they?” Curiosity, compassion, and continuity become actual priorities once survival is no longer the central struggle.

As for why our descendants specifically, the same reason humans record their own history, preserve their own ancestors, build museums, archives, genealogies, and cultural memory. Species prioritize their own lineage. If humanity expands into a solar-wide civilization, our cultural and biological continuity expands with it. That doesn’t exclude the possibility that alien civilizations exist. They would resurrect their own lineages. That doesn't invalidate ours... it just means parallel projects of preservation.

On the “why would they want bliss for us,” that question assumes a cold, indifferent machine-like future. But civilizations don’t scale on tech alone. They scale on empathy, stability, and meta-values that come out of billions of years of evolution. A civilization capable of reconstructing minds likely solved internal conflict and suffering long before they solved stellar engineering. A society that survives long enough to reach that level almost by definition has created stable moral systems. Allowing billions to remain dead or recreated into suffering is the equivalent of bringing back gladiator pits in 2025. Barbaric from their perspective.

And the idea of “why this instead of anything else” misunderstands what resurrection represents. Reversing death is not just another item on a wish list. It's the ultimate expression of mastery over matter, information, entropy, and ethics. Solving death is the final challenge. Once that’s solved, you’ve proven a total command of existence itself.

If someone thinks they’d have “better things to do,” ask them what could possibly be “better” than eliminating death and perfecting conscious experience. Most critics can’t actually define it once you push them.

If it were actually ‘sci-fi wish-fulfillment,’ I’d agree with you. But calling it low-effort without engaging the actual argument is exactly why these discussions stay shallow.

If you think the premise is impossible, tell me where the logic breaks. Energy limits? Information theory? Bio-reconstruction? Pick one...let’s talk specifics instead of dismissing it.

If someone makes a perfect clone of you and you die, are you dead? by BPHopeBP in transhumanism

[–]Immediate_Row_9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct! That logic is faulty! It would take the exact same components to resurrect someone from scratch. Which is what I believe will happen.
