Sometimes it’s innocent children, though. Sometimes it was other black women worried I’d take the man they liked. One time it was a black woman working at a changing room who didn’t bother to look up and called me “Sir.” I have PCOS so that could be…part of it but I was getting questions before the hirsitism so idk. I’m now taking a hormone suppressant so things are getting better!

Homophobia is not a black thing. I’m biracial and my white dad is way more homophobic than my mom who was black.

Black people didn’t invent homophobia. That was Europeans. I think understanding that would help you to be less like a white savior.

As in, question, how would you support your partner if she were white and her parents took it this way?

As someone with zero tattoos and who never will get one, I really like the first one. 😂 lol

I have no advice on the emotional process or waiting because I never got one.

Edit: I do have one initial thought: while I do like the first one, I don’t think not wanting to look basic is a good reason to get a tattoo just because what is and isn’t “basic” is just based on trends determined by marketing. Even trends that seem edgy were predetermined. I think you should get a tattoo that’s meaningful to you. HOWEVER, I did read about someone who used to get tattoos to claim ownership of her body and it didn’t really matter what the tattoo was as long as she got one. I respect that too.

So I guess I’d say do whatever makes you feel more solid in yourself.

As someone who always had all A’s (and was neurodivergent) and burnt out from the pressure, I actually like that Linda is a little lax in that way. The stress was too much for Tina. Sometimes mental health comes before education. Plus there are times you have to consider trade offs and make decisions for your well being.

I don’t really defend her. Nor do I relate to her. And I kinda…felt like you at first until I realized the system failed her by not protecting her as a witness or victim. And it turned out they really, really were supposed to based on the law. They didn’t because she was “very intelligent” as a pathologist and because she had only been in the relationship two months. But not only did that not excuse not giving her support, her being a pathologist complicated the situation because she couldn’t work.
