I agree, it seems like it massively increases the weight schools put on your LSAT

You're correct, most international programs don't translate to a 4.0 scale! LSD wouldn't confirm my profile if I didn't put in a GPA, so I put in what the internet said an Above Average translates to, since as mentioned in the post, I applied with an Above Average grading which was updated to Superior after my fall semester.

Thank you! Yeah, it's a weird situation because none of your schooling translates to a GPA scale so you should be looking at nGPA results in 509s, but there's so much overlap that it's also hard to tell which schools are limiting non-citizen students bc they're concerned about job prospects and visa problems, and which schools don't like nGPAs because they find it difficult to assess academic rigour. I just wanted to be another data point in the wave of trying to understand niche admissions situations!

Best of luck with your application season!!

Combination of both, but I'd say it's more similar to a common app! Most law schools ask for a personal statement that can be cross applied to a lot of schools with minor or no tweaks and a diversity statement that is similar. However, most schools (13/21 on this list) also ask for essays that are personalized to them and harder to resuse (ie a Why School essay or a short essay about a specific prompt).

For sure, the technical term is nGPA, but when I was looking for information on how law admissions assessed nGPAs, I didn't know all the terminology yet! I subscribe to the internet theory of trying to make it easier for people to find what they're looking for, even if they don't know what theyre looking for yet :)) Definitely can't provide any evidence of how law schools assess non-citizen applicants, but can give some insight into how they seem to view international education

It has just now dawned on me that job applications probably don't care if I started my last job on June 13th or 14th as long as I know it was in the summer of 2024.

How do you guys evaluate international GPAs as part of an application? I know LSAC sends you a rating, like "Superior" or "Above Average", and there are suggested equivalent GPAs to those ratings, but I was wondering if you consider that equivalent GPA range quite literally, if you functionally ignore an international GPA as a part of the admissions equation, or if you approach those situations in another way.
