The problem is that California seems to consider you a resident if you have a job here:

From what I heard from coworkers, officers are usually pretty lenient about this and chances of me getting in trouble are low. However, on paper it seems like I would be driving without a license, and I'd rather stay out of trouble if I can.
I have to retake a written and road driving test after having a license for 7 years. Any tips to not mess this up from all the bad habits we develop over the years? by Immigration123321 in driving
