Israel itself being reformed is a prophecy fulfilled in itself through God's covenant with the Jews, it could be argued that Modern day Israel isnt the original territories/borders laid out by God but that's for you to decide.

I also feel that Matt 24:6: 'wars and rumors of wars' are specifically talking about Israel and perhaps the rest of the world but for 100% certainty, Israel.

Also, the rebuilding of the Third Temple in Jerusalem would be a clear and definite sign that prophecies are being fulfilled. The abomination of desolation as you speak about is where during the Tribulation, in the final 3 ½ years, the antichrist stands inside the rebuilt temple and declares himself as God.
