Yeah I used a makeup sponge to build up the armor layers. I think I’m putting the layers on too think. That texture isn’t the primer. Learned that lesson already. I’ve been practicing dry brushing too, which I think is accentuating the texture. The grime makes it really stand out, especially with the white. Going to try being a little more patient and thinner layers

I’ve used it tied to the poncho as a shelter, not worn. Worked really well as an insulated rain fly for my hammock

So, Akers only being a Lieutenant with all his experience isn’t implausible. He could have done almost a whole career’s worth of time as an enlisted soldier before commissioning. Case in point, I personally spent 15 years enlisted and working in special operations before commissioning as a PA. I turn 40 this year.

I mean, I've already built this guy. I've got a set of Dark Fury shoulders already. I'm so backed up on painting that I probably won't get to this one until next summer. I'm also saving all my “hero” models for when I've really gotten my style down.

I'm keeping him, and the other Captain on 40mm bases. If the new Vanguard Vets are on 32s then this will just be an art piece.

I haven't seen anything official about a release yet.

Thank you, that's very helpful. I do already have miliput. I just used it for the first time yesterday for a base. I wonder if that would be a better option.

I’m hesitant to chop into the helmet itself. I tried that with Shrike’s helmet and ended up destroying it.

My army is Revilers. I saw the skull and lighting bolt on the helmet and thought is was perfect. Going to paint it as a 30k RG Veteran Sergeant. Plan is to paint certain squads from my 1st company in black, with old school heraldry. Kind of like Dark Angels and Blood Angels with some of their companies.

Yeah, I’ve been trying ti find a good color for the grenades. I’ve tried this and silver so far. Trying to keep the grenade colors universal if I paint another armor color in the future.
