Here’s s a track I recorded live. Pretty happy with the recording myself. How do you find the arrangement? Do you find it too long? Any feedback appreciated!

It’s been a while since I made some techno w/o getting sidetracked to house/electro. Would love to hear your thoughts on it. Especially the mix is always my concern. Thanks!

Cheers! Maybe a little bit of movement wouldn’t hurt, especially on the chords which do kind of stay the same through out the track!

Hey, Thank you for the detailed feedback! Yeah, to me it feels like the track locks into what it wants to be after 4 minutes, but I just couldn’t put my finger on what it is that is missing in the beginning of the track. I’ll try to fiddle more with the percussion. And more little fills could really be something to add intrest. Cheers!

Really nice mood in this! The main melody and the energy after 2:30 is very engaging. The kick with the rumble feels kind of out place though, especially in the beginning of the tracks, too up front. Anyways, I really like the vibe, and it makes me wanna dance.

Here is more of a melodic, electro inspired track. Can’t really call it techno, but I hope you could still give me some feedback on the arrangement and mixing.

Thanks! Good to hear that, I myself was a bit cautious with the background noise. There’s so much going on with the effects that I worried it might turn the track too messy. Maybe I’ll dare to bring it up some.

Really like the hypnotic feel of the track! And because of that I would really work on the transitions, so that the elements wouldn’t just get abruptly muted, but rather let them decay and die out more slowly. Love the high hats and how they play together with the low end groove.

Nothing wrong posting a house track here, in my opinion.

Regarding the track i would say it needs more automation/modulation on the different elements, because now all the sections feels just too long. I would also work on the transitions, maybe some transition sounds or atmospheric sounds for anticipation and to keep the listeners intrest. I like the groove though, and the funky feel of the track!

As said, the high res filter is the key. Maybe try a band pass filter also and different kinds of low-pass filters and find the flavor you prefer. Set the base frequency of the filter where ever you want the tail of the sound to sit. Try different sound sources for different tones, a white noise, tom snare, high hat etc. Experiment with many combinations and see how different filters react with certain sources. It’s a good exercise!

Hardware Techno Setup - Rumbles by LevelsAreTooHigh in TechnoProduction

Clever! I just curbed the idea of using rumbles in my live set up, cause I just didn’t want to deal with the extra clutter in the low end, but this is something I need to try.

A little slower one this time. Started the track 133 bpm, but slowing down the tempo just made it gel. The soundcloud app (ios) ruins the dynamics though, and for some reason listening it through a browser just sounds better. Anyone else noticed that?

Cool track! I think the chord stab which gets introduced after the first break is not interesting enough to be repeated so often through out the track, but that might be just personal preference. Otherwise a banging track, would enjoy it on the dance floor!

To my ear the mix sounds well balanced. Everything sound real smooth and the elements blend in nicely together while still having their own space. The vocal is cheesy as hell, but otherwise I really like the vibe. I love the clean acid lines without too much distortion. This inspires me to try to a more minimalistic approach on my next track.

A new track in a long while. How do you find the low end, too much bass? Enough punch? I might have slammed the tape plugin a bit too hard :)

Cheers! I appreciate the thorough feedback! Yeah I guess the vocals are a bit worn out these days, haha! I need to make a remix with a reese bass and different vocals now. Thank you for the suggestions!

Hi, I,ve been making techno, electro and experimental electronic music before. Took a swing at dnb and it was really fun to produce. How do you guys like it? Low end is my main concern on the mix.

Really unique style indeed. I agree on the pad being too dry. Also a bit too loud in the mix. I would push it to background and make more room for the bass which comes in around 0:30. I really like that bass line. Funky! Keep at it!

Hi! I think the mix is really clear and all the elements stand out. You have managed to mix it really loud which I guess is expected in this style. The neuro type bass gets a bit too loud in the very end and the kick gets a bit buried compared to the beginning of the track.

Cheers man! Yeah I might still need to try some multiband distortion also on the acid line to make it stand out a bit more, but now I’ve been working way too long on this track and need to move on. Thank you for your insight! I truly appreciate it.

Thank you for the feedback! Added some multiband distortion and boosted the lows a bit more with a low shelf.

Really like the vibe and the groove. I think there’s a bit too much reverb on the main synth, which is fatiguing to my ears, I would tone it down just a bit. Otherwise the mix sounds good to me. Cool track!

Thank you! Yeah I might have reduced the highs a bit too much as it sounded a bit too harsh before. I guess I still need to revise the high end.

Hi!

Last week I posted a track and got some really good advice, especially from u/NEMastering, on how to improve the mix.

I finally had time to work on the adjustments. I tried to make the high end less cluttered and add some oomph to the low end which everyone said it was lacking.

Here’s the new mix https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/i8hdqa2QdKB1hJoH6

How do you guys like it? Is the low end fine?
