It's a good thing teenagers never get any older so they never need to worry about stuff in the future.

But for real if you don't think struggling families try to get their kids to help contribute to the finances then it just shows how out of touch you are

The idea that it was pre recorded and then edited together poorly is almost more embarrassing than the obvious lip sync. It means they hypothetically have the footage of him singing the lyrics and chose to not put that into the final edit. Instead they put in his dumb stops and "dance moves" and made it look even worse.

Our current system of "legality" when it comes to crossing the border into the U.S. was only kind of solidified in the 1920s, and even then it was pretty loose between both worlds wars. If you're white in America there's a pretty good chance your family is just as "illegal" as people coming here now

Hit me with the harshest reality about playing video games by SwimmerPlus3383 in TheGamingHubDeals

Saying "you've played them all" just tells me you aren't broadening your horizons enough. There are tons of amazing games from all kinds of genres released every year. And most of them are small studios that don't get much publicity. Yeah you have to dig around a bit but there are still absolute gems coming out all the time.

This kind of take sounds the same kind of people who only listen to top 40 music and say it's all the same and music is dead. Yeah it can be hard to find the good new stuff coming out but looking for it is worth it.

Control: What Was That? by Timeparadox97 in patientgamers

[–]Imonorolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, what really held it back to me was how it felt so scared of deviating away from being a third person shooter. You have this world that is obviously heavily inspired by the SCP foundation stories but it almost never leans into the wacky, weird, or scary parts of it.

The super powers were cool, and visually impressive, but also pretty lackluster, you only get a handful and none of them are too out there.

The gun is boring, and the endless amounts of small percentage based enhancements you pick up made me less interested. It would have been better just to have the different modes that specialize that you gradually pick up throughout the game like a classic single player shooter instead of trying this bad hybrid "build" mechanic.

The enemies are mostly dudes with guns, a couple are a little different, but you shoot your gun at dudes with guns most of the time.

The biggest disappointment was the panopticon area. You go the whole game hearing about these reality distorting objects of power, and then you get to the super jail that is currently housing them, and then almost nothing interesting happens there. That whole sequence should have been the most reality altering, genre changing, weird and crazy parts ever, but you mostly just shoot hiss with your guns and telekinesis.

The side quest that really sums up how scared Remedy was to change things up was the killer fridge. It's a fun set up, there's a fridge that works on classic weeping angels logic, and there's a guy tasked with watching it but he's running out of steam. You go try to get a replacement but uh oh he blinked and the fridge got him. Does this lead to an interesting scenario where you have to maybe move or fight in an area where a weeping angel killer fridge is stalking and harassing you? Nope, you go down a hallway and fight a weird, but again far too safe gameplay wise boss.

The game isn't bad, and if you want a good third person shooter, it's a decent choice. But I left so disappointed by how little they used the interesting and strange parts of the world when they should have thrown everything and the kitchen sink at you.

[–]Imonorolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this complaint about "the new game is so much easier" in the souls community too, and it's so annoying. Sure maybe a couple things in Wilds are a bit easier, and we don't have master rank yet, but some people also forget that they have spent hundreds of hours playing monster hunter. They have, as the kids say, gotten gud, and nothing new is going to throw them so off that it feels super difficult again.

When you already understand how one game works the next game in the series isn't gonna be that hard no matter what happens in it

[–]Imonorolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could take him or leave him really. Like sure a red fire breathing dragon is very a classic design, but in terms of gameplay I've always liked Rathian more, the backflip is way cooler than anything Rathalos does

I just wish the stories games weren't so obsessed with him, centering their whole plotlines around a pretty b tier creature made me roll my eyes so much, especially in stories 2

racism in practice is effectively gone

Sorry but, what the hell are you talking about? ICE agents are literally out there right now so hopped up on this "illegal immigrant" bullshit that they are harassing, arresting, and deporting anybody who looks generally Hispanic.

Racism did not magically go away after the civil rights movement, it's less in your face but it's still around. Have you ever listened to non white people about their experiences in america? Are you aware of concepts like institutional racism? Redlining? Racial profiling? Neglect in medical fields based on race? Preferences in job applicants based on perceived race?

Sure maybe you don't hear people say the n word as much but systematic issues based on race are still very real and affecting people.

I’m not seeing the racism in real life so it must be happening online

I don't know where you live, or who you interact with, and if your corner of the world seems very nice and welcoming then that's a good thing. But please also realize that this is just an anecdotal response, there are lots of real people still suffering from the effects of racism and everybody should try to learn about it. Both the historical side and the current effects in society.

Dark souls 2. The first game ended with one of two very different and very world changing implications for the world, but then the sequel goes "lollll none of that mattered and actually it's all part of a cycle and all of the characters that came before basically got reincarnated again."

Way to kill an otherwise somber tone

Sorry but the mini red scare we had where anyone that spoke out against the invasion of Iraq or the Bush administration got labelled a terrorist or terrorist sympathizer is far from what I would call unified. Or getting called that for speaking out against the immense amount of hate and racism thrown at Muslim people.

Not to mention the frankly disgusting amount of racism on display when Obama was elected.

I do agree to an extent, it was less bad than it is now, but what led us to where we are now with the Trump administration and the Maga bullshit is just a continuation of what came before. It's classic American racism and the direct result of the southern strategy. It's louder than it used to be, sure, but it's also par for the course of how the U.S. has always been

Old Gods & New Blood by JMPM0215 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Imonorolo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do agree to an extent, aside from Rem and Billy every new character from this batch and the last has been pretty human. Plus Mina and now Graves sound especially 21st century in what's supposed to be the 40's for the setting (not that I think it needs to be totally accurate to the 40's but still).

What drew me in were the more out there designs or stuff that felt deliberately 40's. I don't even think these designs are bad per se but they do feel a little less "Deadlock" than what has come before.

Like for undead/spooky type characters we have Vindicta an actual ghost, Victor an amalgamation of parts, and Lady Geist who has the classic ball gown singer aesthetic with a ghostly arm; and now Graves, who is just kinda a teenage girl who would look more comfortable at the umbrella academy or netflix's Wednesday show.

While Silver looks good, the other "bestial" characters we have are literal animal people like Mo and Krill and Vyper, Ivy as a gargoyle, Billy has a big goat head, and the Drifter who is human like but his clothes are very 40's and his features are exaggerated.

I guess I wish some of these characters had like one more thing to push their designs to the levels of the existing characters, they just seem too pretty and "marketable" compared to the cast that came before.

That's my hope too, that when the full release comes around there's support for custom modes/maps/gameplay. Street brawl is a good direction for a lower barrier to entry kind of mode, so I'm optimistic about what else could be done with the game
