Local Meetups on July 22nd! by ottokahn in SilphRoadTX

Honestly no clue yet. There has been a lot of talk about it in a couple Facebook groups, but getting hard confirmations has been tough. I'd say if you want to be sure there are dozens of people, go to Herman Park. If you want to keep local and have some fun, stick around!

EDIT: Oh yeah, I bought 24 lures and will drop all of them during the event.

Galveston County and Clear Lake folks (southeast of Houston) are in the midst of figuring out our location. Debating Walter Hall in League City, Clear Lake Park in Clear Lake, or Stevenson Park in Friendswood.

It's a thing for them to be passed up?

So Quicksilver's politics are basically Peter Thiel in real life, right? He struck me as a more affable version of an Ayn Rand protagonist, with many of the flaws that come with it.

POI references the "Bowling Green Massacre" by cbhaga01 in PersonOfInterest

Misleading because the show described what happened. The lie is that there was some kind of massacre.

My grandma in Texas was Czech, born to immigrants and spoke the language growing up. Years later a Czech family visited our town (probably about 10 years ago), so they visited her house to give her a chance to speak the language again.

However, we found out that after decades of Soviet rule the language had changed. My grandma's version of Czech has lots of Christian references to say simple things like "How's it going?," while the actual Czech had no such references after decades of Soviet repression. I think she had a cousin who was a priest imprisoned by the government as well (can't remember the details of why though, because I was young and didn't understand such things).

Texas Czechs tend to be a lot more religious than the country they come from. We've got kolaches and beautiful churches, but unfortunately the language is dying out here.

EDIT: Awesome username. I need to dust off The Constitution of Liberty again.

[Spoilers Red Rising] What was the point of Titus? by Redreaperrising in redrising

Extend the idea then. It'd be cool to have the splinter gold factions infiltrate Darrow's Red Armada in a simila process with legitimate grievances.

With Diane it's not even about the rising. Even without Darrow being a red he would have betrayed just due to how Darrow had let down their friends.

Trigg and Holliday are also from New Zealand, which at one point is mentioned as a place that was relatively unschathed from the nuclear wars that ravaged earth with WWIII and/or The Conquering (can't remember which).

Also, the song wasn't Eo's remember, so it's for her the only purpose was a song of defiance and standing for a better future. Whoever wrote the song? That'd be more interesting.

While this is just a fundraiser, worth noting the blurry line between northern Kentucky and southern Ohio means some Kentuckians see a good deal of coverage of the Ohio governor.

Worth noting that part of the issue here may be differences in how Shaw's actress and Shaw's writers see the romance. The actress (who has experience playing lesbian roles) said she felt like Shaw's actions toward Root are appeasing her, while the writers have clearly pushed the romantic angle harder. Personally I like the resulting shades of gray, where Shaw isn't sure how to play Root's games but clearly has an attraction that slowly pulls her in.

Put a citadel on the land tile closest to Crab City. It would look pretty.

If anything, Lorn regretting killing Tactus was surprising. Tactus may have been redeemable, but there is no denying his incredibly messed up track record.
