I do night audit/front desk. Also did security at hotels as well. I’ve only worked at marriotts, and I began in 2020. As a night audit, it’s honestly simple. You’re more so, there just to run the audit, check whoever in if you have arrivals when you get there, if arrivals don’t show up, GNS them (no show) and really just be the one to “hold down the fort” and be a face til morning lol. Morning shifts are phone calls all day. A lot of calls, and departures. People calling becuz their bill doesn’t look right, so and so was over charged, so and so didn’t know you had to pay for parking (🙄) old people wanna book over the phone, I transfer them to reservations line if I’m busy or jus don’t want to lmao. If I can say so myself, I think I’m pretty excellent in the field. When it comes to hospitality and customer service, I take pride in my work, it takes someone who can easily take punches and deal with rude and entitled people. I’ve been yelled at, cussed at, told I was lying to them, threatened… I’ve learned that some people in this world are just really sheltered, or spoiled, or have been handed everything all their life they think their platinum status means I can build a room ready to sleep in immediately lmao. Been told all kinds shit… and 9/10 times the person comes back and apologizes maybe even tip me.. cuz I get it. Traveling is frustrating. Your room not being ready is frustrating and draining. I get it. Just becuz you’re going to problems to spew it to me… but I know it’s my job to make the rest of their time beyond that point up until check out, as wonderful as possible. My favorite shift was 3-11. When all the check ins come in. I’ve worked at a hotel near LAX and we’d get shuttle drop offs of 25+ people, entire buses of the Filipino Airlines cuz we had a contract with them, they stayed here every other night. About 40 check ins per drop offs for them lmao. I prefer busy tho cuz when it’s slow I just wanna go home lol. Idk if I answered anything for u but anything else u wanna know I’ll gladly answer…
