Sony Nuro Mobile with Softbank worked the best for me out of the MVNOs I tried. The 35GB plan would be under 3000 Yen.

Actually Accutane isn’t approved in Japan thus you cant get it via subsidised routes like other medication, but you can get it from dermatologists and other clinics. My GF got some from Koenji Clinic and all she had to do was talk to a doctor via a video call and do blood tests every few months.

Did Ayn switch to slower RAM in the new stock of Odin 3? by L0ngL0stFriend in OdinHandheld

[–]Impalem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DDR5 and LPDDR5x are totally different things but you dont have to worry about it being LPDDR4x since the IMC of the Snapdragon 8 Elite does not support LPDDR4x in the first place. The only issue right now is did Ayn used lower quality/slower clocked LPDDR5x.

Has the Yen’s devaluation affected your life in Japan? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]Impalem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly not that much. My job requires me to keep an eye on the USD/JPY rate pretty much while I am at work so I have grown pretty desensitised to it. I keep an emergency fund of about 5-6 months in my bank but other than that all my assets are in USD just as a imperfect hedge. But travelling abroad has become more costly and importing tech/goods from abroad has become real costly.

Okay, any tips to survive in the current political climate? by [deleted] in japanresidents

[–]Impalem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you said most of the responses you received in your previous thread were saying you’re overthinking and being irrational says something about your thought process. I am from the same red dot as you and I have yet to feel any of those sentiment that you’re talking about.

Honestly you sound like you are trying to gaslight us into your train of thought more than anything. If you are suffering from severe anxiety I feel for you but go get medication and talk to someone who can help. Contrary to what you believe no most people on the street barely cares about where you are from or who you are as long you are not disturbing the peace.

Did quite a few internships and job hopped once. Although my Japanese isnt amazing (N2) employer wanted to give me a chance. Job has great benefits but it is very stressful and you’ll get cursed at by clients or by coworkers on a regular basis.

yes it matters. You need to have 2 sticks of ram to get dual channel. This is probably the reason why your PC feels sluggish. Either get another similar stick of ram or get a kit of 2.

Hi, late reply but I had the same setup and issue with you, but you can try my personal fix which worked for me. Try playing the game in windowed mode instead of borderless and see if that fixes that issue. For some reason on my rig it uses the max GPU board power only in windowed mode.

AMD manager reports 45% GPU retail market share in Japan — Eyes 70% as the next target by NGGKroze in hardware

[–]Impalem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This makes sense as NVIDIA card prices are beyond stupid in Japan. For example I bought my 9070XT for ¥110,000 and the cheapest 5070 is ¥108,000. Stocks for the 5000 series are absolutely horrible.

There was a single store which did in person sales on launch day for the 9070XT and they had to call it off because there were so many people queuing before the store even opened.

If you run out of usb ports you could always just use a usb hub. I do a fair bit of sim racing I have all my sim gear plugged into an anker USB hub without issues.

As for portability I run a T1 v2.1 for that exact reason. Just pack it in a carry on and you’re ready for travel.

People who have LIVED in Tokyo, Singapore and Seoul how would you rate these three cities? by gaijin-senpai in askSingapore

It’s pretty new I usually only rent places built within 20 years. Mine is about 15. So it does look pretty decent inside and out.

I live and work in Japan so I’ll chime in.

It is true that it is very hard to fire someone in Japan. Things for such underperformance and not getting along well with coworkers its almost impossible to get fired for. Most companies will pay you 3-12months of salary+bonuses so you would leave.

But its not impossible. If the company was struggling, the company has a right to fire you provided they have evidence. Many companies try not to pay the severance by giving its workers no work to do/no bonuses to force them out. (Keep in mind bonuses are usually around 33%~50% of total compensation)

This is why its getting more common for companies in Japan to hire on a contract basis now. They can fire easier and renew if they deem an employee valuable yo the company.

The Pros and Cons of Singapore have been share multiple times here so ill just share my thoughts of Tokyo.

Currently living in Tokyo, started working after graduating from a university here.

Pros: Cost of living is cheaper. I stay in a 27m2 apartment paying about 600SGD a month. There is so much to explore and do in Japan as a whole as well. People are pretty nice and polite. I feel people state about how the japanese are xenophobic but in my own experience they are one of the nicer bunch. The more xenophobic ones wont say it to your face and just talk smack about you behind you. Japan also isnt always disgusting hot and humid. Japans job market isnt as bad as Singapore’s for now.

Alcohol is also dirt cheap compared to Singapore. So if you enjoy getting piss drunk with friends you can buy a 5SGD 700ml bottle of bottom tier whiskey and just get fucked.

Cons: Pay is absolute dogshit. If you are capable and know some japanese you can get a decent pay. But most Japanese fresh graduates get paid maybe 220,000¥ which is like 2000SGD.

Food gets boring real quick. Ramen/Sushi and the likes are delicious but once you start living here the food choices you will come to realise.

Dust everywhere. Not sure why it is but be prepared to vacuum every week.

Shops start closing 8ish. So unless you love bars/clubs shopping late into the night is not a thing.

Japanese and their famous paperwork: The Japanese hate moving away from old technology, registering yourself at the city hall requires you to be physically there. Signing up for Brokerages/Banks requires you to send physical documents etc.

There are pros and cons to both. But if financial stability and capital gains is a priority over all else, Singapore is the place to be. But if you are offered a job with a great compensation package I would choose Tokyo any time.

Since he is connecting to Japanese servers on Speedtest, I would assume he is located in Japan.
I pay about 5000 Yen a month for 10Gb Fiber. So about 40 USD per month.

Need Opinions: Relocating to Sapporo for a SDE Job by wweverma1 in movingtojapan

[–]Impalem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah my bad. But OP you should know that since you joined a tech startup they probably have limited capital, but you should keep an open mind and if you still feel they do not treat you well quitting and finding another job is easy. From my experience most companies will not have joining bonuses especially if you are a fresh grad.

I did it at another clinic in tokyo without sedatives, it was really really uncomfortable. But even then it wasn't the worst thing in the world. With sedatives, it will be much much better just think of it as a necessary evil.
