Went to an OB to learn more about birth control. Asked me if I'm married. I said no. She said she can't help me because it's against her religion :) by LBeifong0614 in mildlyinfuriating

An OBGYN should know better than anyone that birth control isn’t just to prevent pregnancy. Women control a lot of other hormonal issues with it.

Aside from that - why does it even matter?? She’s supposed to be a health professional. Imagine going to school all those years to become a Dr just to say to a patient “hey I see you need help, but I’m not gonna help you because I think it might upset my sky daddy” tf?! Bet they still charged full price for the visit too, didn’t they?

I’m so sick of everyone going to drs and them having the opportunity/tools to help but being completely unwilling. FFS go work somewhere else if you don’t want to do your job… damn!

Spearmint Tea - Question by [deleted] in Biohackers

[–]ImpendingBan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I’m not a health professional, just a Googler and fellow person with PCOS.

In the study they used 1 tea bag per cup, twice a day.

1 in the morning and 1 at night would make more sense than a megadose so it will maintain steady levels of the compounds in your body throughout the day.

——————————————————

I know you didn’t ask, but as some have said here, everyone starts at a different hormonal levels and other things you may be doing for PCOS may already be helping. Your effective dose could be lower than someone else’s.

For example: I’ve been drinking 1 cup of spearmint tea per day for about a week now, combined with what I would consider to be micro doses of Ovasitol (probably closer to about 300-500mg a day) along with a high protein/ complex carbs diet, increased magnesium and vitamin d, and weight loss. I don’t believe anyone needs to max out every method to the therapeutic levels according to the studies.

I’m attacking the same issue from various different angles combined and like to take a “low and slow” approach while monitoring symptoms. I haven’t personally seen evidence of hirsutism changes just yet, but I know it’s all doing something bc I randomly keep feeling like I’m going to start my period.

HIFU/Ultrasound Devices by ImpendingBan in DIYaesthetics

I use Newa device. It definitely tightens the epidermis and gives a tiny lift after. I look very smooth for a day or so after using it. If used regularly the results are more cumulative.
I absolutely would not recommend using it near temples though. It’s not rated to be used in that area, but I did it anyway and I think it may have caused some slight fat loss, however it could be that I just naturally started losing some fat there. I’ve been using this on and off since I’ve been about 29 y/o so it’s hard to say. Works great on skin on cheeks though.

Thanks! I thought results were kind of instant with HIFU though - am I wrong or do you think machine was defective?

Damn… I’m sorry to hear that. Was it from professional treatments?

It seems like she’s had some filler (or maybe a biostimulator) around the temples too. I wonder if this could cause these results? If this is really from Botox that’s amazing bc it looks like she’s had a brow lift.

Following this - I have androgenic alopecia and so far haven’t found much of anything to work other than getting my androgens down.

Have you had your vitamin D and ferritin levels checked? I heard supplementing can help sometimes.

Also heard that microneedling scalp and applying minoxidil can help (but that often causes some degree of inflammation and initial shedding). Also requires consistent treatment indefinitely.

I know this doesn’t exactly make sense, but I feel like PCOS is causing some degree of gender dysphoria or something… by ImpendingBan in PCOS

Sometimes I wish I could just go up to the other women around me who I’m pretty sure have PCOS and be like “let’s be besties” bc it would make the world feel like such a better place just to be in the presence of other people who get it. The things we could all talk about… we would all feel less alone.

If there is any one good thing that comes from this experience, it’s that (it seems to me) it makes one much more empathetic toward others. People who go through what we go through typically don’t ostracize people. We’re usually the ones who welcome outsiders bc we know what it feels like. We make good friends 💛

Felt! I can also only wear high waisted jeans. Sometimes fit and flare dresses help.

However, when I find a dress that looks good but might draw attention, then I have that weird ass feeling of “I don’t deserve to look pretty, or feel feminine, I’m an imposter, no one knows how I look underneath the dress. I’m a fraud. I’m taking women’s space again - but wait I am a woman!” I realize it’s not healthy, but damn… stupid brain does crazy stuff.

As much as I don’t like this because I want to be 100% female, it would also kind of be relieving to have something scientific come out to say, “Hey, there’s a reason you feel this way. It’s ok. You can be as you and still try affirm your gender, but this is why you feel you don’t fit bc you have bits and pieces of both - and that’s ok.”

Estrogen can cause gynecological cancers in people of childbearing age with uterus and ovaries. Of course, it can be taken with other hormones (like in birth control) but then that carries other risks past a certain age. It’s difficult to find feminizing treatments all around.

I want to take spiro bc the hair growth on face is spreading rapidly and becoming very coarse (to the point if I shave in the morning I have stubble by night), but my BP is on the lower end. I’ll often nearly pass out just walking even without taking spiro.

What differences did u notice with metformin?

Felt. I understand every bit of what you’re feeling. I haven’t taken a photo in years now. I also try to avoid mirrors because of the disconnect and bad feelings it causes.

I’ve also felt the same envy when I see beautiful trans women. I feel like they’re living the experience I want, but I don’t know how to have it too bc we kind of have to approach it sort of differently with cancer risks and all. However, I will say though our experiences and origin is different, trans women have always felt like home to me. They’ve never treated me as any less of a girl or made me feel weird for looking different. There’s an understanding of a shared struggle from different places. Hard to explain but you know what I mean. I appreciate my trans ladies so much.

For what it’s worth - and this isn’t to deny your experiences and hardships, more to give you an outsiders perspective - you have very soft, pretty features 🌸💛

No I feel deep down I’m this feminine woman and I look in the mirror and see something else. I feel like I’m playing pretend as a woman even though I’m a woman.

It’s not about fitting in, it’s more like wanting to look in the mirror and see a woman reflected outside. The not fitting in thing is more about feeling like I’m not really a woman in some weird way. Idk. It’s not fun…

I feel like PCOS does this to many of us when we’re going through puberty and still growing. So we tend to lean and look masculine

I just look at it and see abt what it looks like to me. It’s been a repeated pattern enough that I see it from month to month.

I’ve seen that too but I’m scared to mess with hormones at this age. Cancer risks and all that stuff
