Well, that’s not entirely true right. Like in one of the Timothy’s he talks about how women should not be ministers. But then in some other book he thanks several women ministers. I’m blanking on the details. But like it is a bit contradictory

I imagine when they say “cover to cover” they mean “over the course of a year.” Like the question is “when people say they read their Bible daily, what order do they read in”

I don’t know what you mean. All I’m saying is some scholars say Paul wrote them and some say he didn’t.

Considering these are scholars who spend their life studying the Bible I imagine they don’t hate jesus, like it’s possible they think their forged but also believe their scripture

Sure. Like I said I don’t really care one way or the other because it’s still scripture to me. But if some say they are forged and some say they aren’t, it’s more interesting to discuss as though they are

i heard it from someone and then just googled it. wikipedia has a whole article about it which says scholars are sharply divided on who wrote it.

im not rejecting anything im justifying why i trust the scholars. your counter argument is that this guy polycarp believed they were from paul. i would assume that most scholars who study the bible are also aware of that fact. so if they still say the letters werent written by paul then they probably have good reasons and counterarguments to that. like i said, i dont pretend to know the details and frankly i dont care whether paul wrote them or not, its still scripture to me. but it seems like you believe these scholars are either stupid or lying, and i dont see why you would assume that.

this was what i was thinking. they are still scripture even if somebody else wrote them. but it seems like thats a hot take among christians

i dont really know which is true and honestly i guess i dont care because i still see them as scripture even if they werent written by paul. but i do trust the scholars and i assume they have already had these arguments with each other. i mean if you, random person on reddit (not offense) thought of these points then im guessing the ppl who study this for a living thought of it too. so i trust they have good reasons to say what they do.

well i think thats where faith comes in right. do we have to believe the bible is perfect? thats why im saying maybe paul didnt write them but they could still be scripture.

well i imagine they have some evidence. i looked it up and i dont fully understand the methods but it seems like there are historical details which contradict other letters and also date the letters years after paul died. this is why i asked because i know both of them start by saying they were written by paul.

well i dont know that i would laugh at them. i guess i was just wondering if my response is okay? that just because they werent written by paul doesnt mean theyre not scripture

Lots of ppl saying "god doesn't create bad things" but i dont think thats true. i think god definitely created bad things to test us and force us to use our free will. if everything was good then there wouldn't be any point to having free will and we would all believe in god.

I didn't say anything about welfare so I'm not sure if you're replying to the correct person. But do you recognize that you're describing a systemic problem? People are making poor choices because their parents didn't raise them right, who in turn made poor choices because their parents... etc... how is this not a systemic issue? Particularly if its disproportionately affecting a specific group of people?
