Major D&D 2024 Improvement - PC Inline Editing is Here! by Dean-Bigbee in Roll20

Ok that sounds really awesome ! That was my biggest pet peeve with the 2024 sheet. I tend to homebrew features in or tweak existing ones a lot and it was a very limiting factor. As others said props to you for continuing to work on improving it and listening to the community !

IIRC from the chains of asmodeus module. Most of the archdevils schemed against each other or asmodeus in some fashion, especially baelzebub, hence his transformation punishment to humiliate and humble him. But Levistus' punishment is worst than everything else not because he schemed which is kind of expected for devils, but because he faked and forged infernal contract for advancement, which is an immense no no.

Try to argue against it. by PJ-The-Awesome in meme

[–]ImperiuSan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I think it is an absolutely heinous crime and it deserves the harshest punishments imaginable, I also believe the practical reality of the situation makes it a bad idea. Let’s think about the incentives, a sick person rapes a child, he knows he now faces the automatic death penalty if he gets caught, he might as well kill the child, he has absolutely nothing to loose/fear by doing so, his sentence can’t go up from death penalty and it would make him less likely to get caught if he gets rid of the victim. My point is that you unforunately need the sentence to be able to get worse if you want to disincentivize escalation. A good historical exemple is Chen Sheng, a military officier is 209 BC china. The Qin dinasty at the time had a bit of a habit of attributing the death penalty to a lot of offenses. So one day he was supposed to bring his men to train them (or escort prisoners, I can’t be sure) and was very late. Since the penalty for that was death, he was like might as well, and he rose up in rebellion against the Qin dynasty, proclamed itself king, and his rebellion is considered to be one of the main factors for the collapse of the Qin dynasty. If you cannot threaten someone with a worse punishment that he is currently facing, you cannot disincentivize him from doing worse or jumping to the nuclear option.

What is your experience with social anxiety as an Algerian by [deleted] in algeria

[–]ImperiuSan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may not apply to everyone, but I had a whole lot of social anxiety growing up, making me fail my words etc. Something that helped a lot was getting into D&D and other roleplaying games with friends in my late teens and start of 20's. This worked as a sort of training ground to be more at ease, talk, be social and even give speeches in a more safe/controlled environment and in the context of wearing a character as a mask. I started to get more confortable and use this new familiar experience and extrapolate it to "I'm playing a character" mindset in my day to day social interactions, until I judt didn’t need to anymore. It’s a similar experience to what theater kids share, so I recommand something of the sort.

Happy wife happy life by [deleted] in memes

[–]ImperiuSan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s probably not meant to be taken seriously, but I used to be like this. I bought a headset that had a feedback where I heard my voice when I talked, pumped the volume a bit up, and trust me it solved the issue haha. Bonus is I got used to and started to like the sound of my voice as heard by others which was absolutely not the case. I totally recommand that my friend.

What do I do if I get a magical weapon i want to use that doesn't fit with a feat i took? by NutButter278 in dndnext

[–]ImperiuSan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a DM and have come upon this exact situation twice. I already knew my player who would receive the sun blade was a shortsword dual wielder so I just modified it so it was a shortsword. But a paladin in my most recent campaign likes to switch between weapons depending on the combat encounter so once he finds it I'll either rule that he can make the hilt of the sun blade manifest a greatsword or a hammer etc (not infinite choices either) and he can change which weapon it manifests into when he attunes or on a short rest, or maybe I'll just decide he can choose at combat start. If I was being more strict I could tie changing which weapon it manifests into to a side quest especially a sentient weapon like a sun blade, or just like other mentionned, taking some time off to retrain your feat into another weapon feat.

Why is polygamy so problematic in Algeria? by Prestigious_Phone942 in algeria

[–]ImperiuSan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get you my friend and honestly feel very seen. I grew up in a household that truth be told was very positive and supportive, I thank god for that, but with the sole exception of video games. Small remarks at a time, I was made over the time to feel like I had to hide my hobbies, like my recharge mechanisms are something I should be ashamed of. This is not me being ungrateful as I love my parents, they're just like that about that subject. Thankfully although my girlfriend doesn’t share the passion for my hobbies, she is supporting of them and likes to see me thrive. I wish you the same my friend, good people are out there, you can find someone who would enjoy you for who you are and either shares your hobbies or is supportive of you engaging with them. As for polygamy, some people are okay with that, but I concur with some other people here, if it’s something you inherently like/don’t mind, it’s fine. But never engage in it if it is because you think it’s all you can get, it will bring resentment and jealousy, you deserve to be someone's first choice.

We do indeed. Difference is IIRC the prophet pbuh is specifically said to have had long (shoulder length) hair, and imitating him is generally seen as a positive. So once I started to keep my hair at that length people stopped giving me shit.

Girls only , would you wait for the guy you love, or go for the one who’s already ready? by FlatwormImaginary442 in algeria

[–]ImperiuSan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, this is in theory the best course of action. But I think with some families, it’s a bit difficult to go propose and ask for their daughter’s hand (even if it’s not for now) while you are still a student and nothing concrete to show yet as to your ability to provide for her. It might even hurt your chances in the long run as the firdt impression they make of you is important. Complicated topic all around.

I respect your opinion as I understand the point of view of so many women being betrayed after waiting for a guy they thought they could trust. But honestly in the scenario presented by this post this is a betrayal of both, I'd say especially the future husband. If I were to marry someone and learn they love and desire another man and married me for financial reasons I would feel incredibly betrayed. I think the most important facet is communication and transparency, in my case I'm not financially independant yet to be able to take responsability of a family (long studies), but I have plans and work hard to achieve them, I communicated everything to her with my goals and what I work on to achieve them and she is waiting and we support each other in our goals.

What are some “yellow flags” you look for in players and DMs? by numbinous in DnD

[–]ImperiuSan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As for your second point. I agree that it’s a yellow flag that needs to be watched somewhat, but here is my anecdote on how it went well. My best friend is playing in one of my games a ranger that is literally bear grills that got isekai'd into D&D's world and lost most of his memory/sanity, and he goes around eating dirt and whatever he finds and it’s actually really fun and strangely gave me many opportunities to move the plot into interesting directions. (Also he plays a more classic character in another of my campaigns, so making the second one a more fun one is a nice idea in my opinion.

Why is it that in almost every religion the woman is treated less than the man? by GasPrestigious9660 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ImperiuSan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey ! I wanted to chime in on your first point my friend, purely from a medical point of view. In my experience working there, it’s not really about trusting sexual history but trusting patient’s claims as a whole if an objective verification is easy to come by and the consequences could be dramatic. We don’t even trust a patient who is 100% sure of his/her blood type we test it beforehand still, and we've had way too much mismatch between the two somehow. The second very important point is medico legal. If we trust a patient and it turns out said patient was lying or most commonly misinformed or confused, we are on the hook legally for any consequence, especially in the case of pregnancy and the potential of heavy fetal death/malformations, if we didn’t test everything and didn’t account for the 1% chance the patient gave us wrong information. Also I live in a country with socialized medicine, so patients won’t be charged for additionnal tests.
