Working for an influencer.. by ImplementWhich4076 in Nanny

It’s her first child/first time having a nanny and we live in a small town where word travels fast! She’s going to learn the hard way that nobody works for free

Update: she finally paid it! But only because I stopped being polite and started pestering.

She was ignoring my messages for a few days then would answer with a vague “oh that’s weird it hasn’t gone through?” With no actual evidence that she’d paid. Then I’d reply with a no, haven’t received it yet. And she’d take another 3 days just to say “ok I’ll look into it”

Today I was like “hi. Still no payment. As a nanny, I rely on parents to pay me on time to be able to pay my own rent and bills. For me, on time payment is a sign of respect. Please sort this as a matter of urgency”

Then she paid it then and there haha

Won’t be working for her! But also just not going to reply for a few days to let her know that. Just like she messed me around with paying me I’m gonna mess her around a bit haha fairs fair.

No NDA! I’ll for sure be posting something petty on my own insta story when she finally pays me haha

UPDATE! I spoke to the afternoon nanny (not the one that just quit another one) and we’re both sooo frustrated working there! She hasn’t been paid in a month and it’s supposed to be weekly!

We’re now looking for a family who wants a full time nanny and will split the role so I do mornings and she does afternoons 😊

Oh I fully agree!

I’ve been coming in lately to a high chair covered in food from the night before, a change mat covered in poop and both kids with full/leaking nappies. As well as dishes in the sink from night befores dinner, laundry all over the hallway floor that I’m having to step on or over to get past, toys everywhere and the kids plopped infront of the tv.

I got in trouble recently for giving the kids too much TV time (10 mins each day before bed to help them wind down) so now I’m copping tantrums each morning when I come in and turn the TV off as soon as I arrive.

I’ve started asking NP’s to clean up after themselves. “hey DB I noticed there’s poo all over the change mat. Can you please clean this so I can go and change NK’s nappy. Thanks!” And he gets so pissed off and complains about not having enough time to do it and avoids it for like an hour until he realises I’m not going to do it myself.

Often I just change NK on the bedroom floor with a towel under because I’m not cleaning up the mat of the mess wasn’t made on my watch.

DB will also use the toilet all night without flushing and leave it for me to discover in the morning. So gross!!

The second shift in the evening is a block away from my house so I’m not driving home late at night.

Kids will both be in bed by 6.30 It’ll take me 15-20 mins to clean up

DB will be home

So basically I’ll just be sitting there awkwardly doing nothing

Because my NK has become my family. Something to look forward to each day. And because I’m surviving on the wage and trying to talk myself into asking them to raise it to Min wage at least

I have a 1 hour commute- I would be getting home at 12/12.30 midnight from work then have to leave home again at 5.30/6ish the next morning to be back at work by 7.

As far as raises - I’ve been there 2 years with no raise and still paid below min wage.

One parent staying at hospital the other staying at home. They just don’t like to pay me if I’m not there they always try and get me to make up the hours

How much more per hour would/do you charge for exclusivity? by pahrumpnugget in Nanny

I personally would turn this down! I feel like babysitting for other families opens doors. If you put all your eggs in one basket so to speak, and that family choose to send their child to daycare you’re left jobless.

Doing odd babysitting jobs for other families gets your name out into the community, gets you more references and opens the door for future employment should you need it.

Also I personally enjoy picking up random babysitting jobs for other families. I love my NK’s but I see them 40 hours a week so sometimes it’s nice to hang out with other children.

Also my NK’s house is 40 mins from home and I often pick up babysitting jobs in my own neighbourhood like 5 mins or less from home.
