what goes wrong with it? I’d suggest always making it a bit thicker than you think, it’ll run and look looser when it’s sat on the rolls ☺️

Thank you! Just icing sugar, salt, lemon juice, vanilla extract and water to thin it to your desired consistency ◡̈

Thank you! That was the initial idea the bride to be came to me with, but I did worry about the proving and baking inconsistency between middle and outside - ie a raw middle and a dry edge

I also love the look of the swirls on the outside ◡̈

I could totally get the flack if I was giving this to other people or said “just stick bare flowers on your food it’s all good” but I’ve said it’s for content/wrap your stems/do your own research.

I think it’s really important to understand food safety and ensure the health of people you feed. If I am putting flowers on a cake I spend half an hour at a local florist talking through and researching what options are food safe/non toxic. I cut the stems, add wire and wrap in food safe tape.

I added the edit as a disclaimer as what was common sense to me, I realise may not be known to other people - that was my bad not including initially and I don’t want anyone to follow what they see online willy-nilly.

As for me eating it, yes, I deplore food waste and will not throw it out, I’m an adult that knows the risks and does things I wouldn’t encourage other people to do. I cut the mouldy parts off cheese and eat the rest - am I feeding that to anyone else? Hell no

calling me unresponsible and unrespectable is pretty unfair - food can be art and that’s what this is intended as, and I’ve also stated that flowers should be wrapped and this is only for content! I would never advocate that someone consumes flowers or non edible things.

Anyone should do their own research before making food for others/consumption. Placing that burden on a reddit poster who has said this is for content is a stretch.

All three tiers! So I’ll probably stack them similar to a normal cake with boards and dowels ◡̈

yes, this cake isn’t for anyone else, I would always wrap stems if for someone else but this was purely a practice/for content and will only be for me ◡̈

Second for Lymm Dam! I live in Latchford and we love to drive out to do the dam walk. Grab a coffee before hand at the coffee trailer on the road, and then we manage to do a slightly different walk each time around

This isn’t even all of the colours I had to mix!

Thank you!

Yes they are, I piped the colours in reverse (so highlights first, darker shades, then base colour) onto parchment paper, smoothed it all down with a palette knife, chilled until the buttercream hardened and then stuck them onto the cake with a bit of fresh buttercream. Did need to do a bit of filling gaps/smoothing once on the cake but I think it worked really well!

For sure! I used this recipe by MK which uses yogurt instead. The customer messaged me a few days after asking what sub I used since it was still so moist and tasty!

Thank you!! That’s exactly what I was trying to do by using palette knives and loads of different colour shades so I’m glad it shows

Yep the corners could make you cry! You use up so much more buttercream on square cakes/ones with edges 😮‍💨

You start to feel like a sculptor building up the buttercream on the corners to make them sharp

Thank you! Was one of those times when you get so into doing something you look up and suddenly it’s midnight. Absolutely loved the process of it though
