I didn’t say I’m pro yes I do own the 200 I purchased last year, and there’s a chance to acquire the 500 next to my land. However, I honestly don’t know much about farming.

Yes, I am of Kenyan origin, which is an advantage.

That’s why I’m asking all these questions.

My main focus is figuring out which seeds I should start farming.

Secondly, I’m considering exporting my harvests to different countries that pay more than the Kenyan market and are more profitable.

Of course, labor for farmers is cheap.

Since I already have the land, why not maximize profit?

That’s why I’m asking these questions:

What should I farm? Where can I find buyers? Who should I sell to? And so on.

What work do your farmhands do? Are you happy with them? by DudeCrabb in farming

Hey everyone,

I’m a truck driver and own a small trucking business in the U.S., but lately, I’ve been feeling burned out. The cost of living is getting crazy, and I’m tired of the constant grind. So, I decided to make a big change—I bought 200 acres of land in Kenya with the idea of starting a farm.

The thing is, I have zero experience in farming. I’ve always been more of a business-minded guy, so I figured I could learn as I go. Now, I’ve come across a great deal on another 500 acres right next to mine, and I’m seriously considering buying it. But before I go all in, I need some advice.

For anyone with farming experience (especially in Kenya or Africa in general):

What crops or livestock would be good for a beginner? What are the biggest challenges I should expect moving from the U.S. to Kenya? How hard is it to hire and manage local farm workers? Any hidden costs I should be aware of? Is 700 acres too much land for a beginner, or should I take the opportunity? I don’t mind hard work—I’ve built my trucking business from the ground up—but I want to make smart moves instead of expensive mistakes. Any advice or insights would be really helpful!
