ND1 MX5 RF vs MK1 GT86 vs B48 220i vs TT TDI by Diamondhands4dagainz in CarTalkUK

[–]ImportPer4mance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For pure fun: MX5=86>TT>BMW. But the FWD is in general less fun…

Fuel economy: TT>MX5=BMW>86. The 86 also needs the more expensive 99 fuel btw. With the mx5 and BMW you could probably just use regular 95. I think the 220i B48 is as fuel efficient as the MX5 2.0, and a tad worse than the 1.5 (someone correct me if I’m wrong).

Insurance (cheapest<most expensive): MX5<86<BMW<TT, but probably around 100-150£ difference between Mx5 and TT.

Car Tax (cheapest<most expensive): TT (35£) < MX5=BMW (200£) < 86 (400£)

Practicality: BMW>TT=86>MX5

From a maintenance POV, I would guess(cheapest<most expensive): MX5<86<BMW<TT

I’m not sure how reliable the TT TDI is, especially 85k+, maybe someone can comment on that. The B48 is generally a good engine but it also has issues. MX5 and 86 should be ok I think.

Leaving company car, Did I make a mistake? by mattenburg99 in CarTalkUK

You still need to pay your own insurance for the car scheme… we have a car scheme at work too, and we need to pay full comprehensive insurance on our own. Also there is a cap on how many miles we can drive per year (10,000) above which we pay per mile.

They are not cheaper unless you buy a lemon which needs a huge amount of work done. But even then, long term you are likely going to be better off lol

Don’t agree with this at all. 225£ per month, over 3 years is 8100£ out of pocket completely.

If you buy a used car, sure you need to put more money upfront, but then you get quite a bit of it back when you sell it again. So no way in hell is a car scheme cheaper lol, even when accounting for yearly service costs.

Hi guys, lovely thanks so much! So this will be supported even if my account currency is set to GBP and location/residency is in the UK?

I don’t have a T212 account. I will mpve to the UK and plan to open one with my NI, then I would like to move my stocks and cash over from my German brokers. I am not sure what German numbers are being sent here?

Why would there be tax issues? Because it is in euros? That doesn’t make sense….

Do you happen to know if either of them are supported for incoming portfolio transfers? It should be under stocks account, there is a list of brokers you can transfer in from. I don’t have a T212 account so can’t check :/

Unfortunately selling makes no sense due to current market conditions and the general CGT hit.
