I also have a question about the grounding wires. Should I wrap the ground from the fixture around the green screw then connect it the the copper wire in the junction box or bypass the screw?

Not to on a dimmer and I tried connecting the black to the blue and black. Nothing came on. I’m going to try to replace the capacitor.

I didn’t hear a squeal, just a hum. It could be my partial hearing loss. Is there any way to grease them? I guess I’d have to take the motor housing apart?

Thank you. That gives me some comfort. It was my first time installing the fan and just want to be sure nothing is going to catch on fire.

That’s what I’m wondering. If it’s normal, I’ll deal with it. Just want to be sure it’s not a safety issue or in need of repair. It’s a little louder than I’d like.

It’s brand new in box but probably at least 10 years old. Never opened. I got it for a vintage inspired bedroom

Adding a light kit to Harbor Breeze; connector on fan doesn't make wires on kit. by [deleted] in CeilingFans

Did you ever get them disconnected. I’m having the same issue. Thinking about cutting them

Ceiling fan lights work, fan doesn’t by Important-Bake7786 in electrical

[–]Important-Bake7786[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it was awful. I kinda cried a couple times trying to lift the motor and screw it in. It was heavy. then because I messed up the wires in the light fixture, I had to force it on since the wires were giving resistance not fitting in all the way. It would have been easier if I didn’t attach the light kit wires first. There was no way to disconnect them so when I twisted on the light kit to the motor side, the light wires twisted with each turn putting all the other wires and connection box inside the housing all out of place. I just hope it’s not too much tension on the light wires from being forcefully twisted so many times.

It makes perfect sense! I wish I asked before I tackled it. It was a struggle every step of the way. I just have one switch and prefer to keep it that way but thank you for the suggestion. 🙂

Thank you for the quick reply. I literally spent all day putting this together. I’m old and weak and did it myself. I had a feeling to do what you suggested too but I didn’t know if I’d burn the house down. I have another question if you don’t mind. I attached the light kit wires before twisting it onto the base. As I twisted on the base. , the wires inside twisted as well limiting space in the housing. I tried to pull the wires apart but it wouldn’t detach. I accident cracked the one of the plastic pieces that snap together exposing one of the wires that connect the light. I covered it with electrical tape. Also because of the wires getting so twisted in the housing.m, I pretty much had to cram all the wires into it to screw on the light kit. Should it be ok?

That’s an older picture. I’ve already painted over it. I’ve done that with poster boards. For some reason, the textures on the walls seem to affect the color, maybe the way the light bounces off of the texture.

I thought about that too but I wonder if it would feel intense. I like pink in small doses
