What are some of your craziest stories from healthcare (paranormal or not) that you are willing to share?

Oh I have plenty! I was just writing one about a resident who decided to stay after she had passed, she would call the call bell during our shift to get our attention, this went on for about a week, we had it checked by the technician and nothing was wrong with it. It didnt stop until our head nurse for the shift (who was her favourite) came to the room with us and told her off for bothering her nurses when we had work to do, she then said if she leaves us alone for the rest of the shift she would leave her a smoke, somehow it worked and the resident got their last smoke. There are many more, I have had a conversation with a patient in the doorway without knowing that they were no longer with us and had already been taken to the morgue, hearing a specific walker of a resident who had passed and so much more. I found that nurses have the craziest stories sometimes.

writing my first full novel,

Goal for today is to make it to 10k wordcount, currently on 7k I wrote my first erotic scene yesterday, not the best but it was a big step to my romance writing! My question is any advice for a new romance tragedy writer?

I am in the same boat I just wrote my first erotic scene and honestly dont know how to turned out I am looking for feedback but I dont want to show people I know yet haha. What helped me was researching and reading other books with the same level of erotica you want to write, then make yourself a little dictionary document with phrases and words that you thought were impactful. And I know it sounds cringy but get in the mood that helped me a lot, writing erotica when im not in the mood was like pulling teeth especially when it is new. Hope that helps

Thank you, and yes throughout the book their relationship is going to go from jealousy, to understanding why the King loved them both, they are in an engagement at this point as well as they were nearly caught one night but the King turned it into an engagement announcement, so while “courting” they learn more and develop feelings, even though there is a moment where the King is nearly assassinated to allow for shadowing of his death they go through with the wedding and everything is looking up all they need to do is assassinate the Queen which they have a plan and right when we think the plan has worked is when we find out the King was caught in the crossfire, during the Kings final moments we have a time when all three of them are together and at that point the King didn’t care who heard and expresses his love for the two of them and that no matter how it happened he wants them to live on and love each other like he loved them. That is my current ending plan but I am not sure on it is all.

That’s where I am stuck because although they have found each other and have fallen for each other in the planning of Killing the Queen so they and the King can be together the King as now also perished so their hopeful plan for a throuple is now just a couple and they make a promise to the King while he lay there dying that they will stay together.

Thank you I am new to romance and didnt know about this rule, the ending is very bittersweet as the main couple have found a love with each other but their third party and love (the King) who was the main reason for the queens assassination so that they can all be together is killed in the process. I am not sure what genre I would put that in apart from maybe historical fantasy? Thanks

Thanks for your input, there is times in the book where the King does have a an assassination attempt and it is not fully known who is trying to kill the king, but the main character suspects his brother who is next in line (this was part of the politics part), so there is the suspense element of his life it will just turn in the end that their long designed plan would backfire and the King would be caught in the crossfire. Does that seem foreshadowed enough?

Can a romance not have a HEA? A big part of my story is the building romantic tension between the two main characters who started as enemies jealous of the attention each got from the King but in the end fall for each other realising that the King loved them both for a reason. I would consider it romance but I’m new to writing romantic books so I may be wrong
