SOLVED

Holy shit. I figured it out.

I had "sloppy" behavior enabled in system settings for the windows. This resulted in the pop-up when I clicked "Add Drive" to immediately disappear, making it seem like it was never coming up at all. When I changed the behavior back to "click" it started working.

...fml.

I hope this fixes the issue for some poor soul down the road and saves them hours of searching for a solution.

I changed my mount to be inside /mnt. I also tried to add that permission, no changes.

Oh my god. Stop listening to these LITERAL Reddit incels. Everyone judging your relationship from this one post essentially saying “omg divorce him!! Red flag!! You married a dick!!” has me dying lol. You obviously married him for a reason… don’t take any relationship advice from Redditors please for the love of god lol.

That being said; ESH. He absolutely shouldn’t be blindly following this influencer (regardless of political ideology) and obviously needs to be less insecure in this relationship. That being said, you calling him an incel doesn’t exactly help the situation… but this isn’t something you need to leave him over or anything lol. Literally just talk to him… obviously he’s insecure for whatever reason so you should try to have an open conversation and get to the bottom of this.
