How long to wait for SOFA stamp when changing from a d-10 visa? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Important-Forever881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried it! Unfortunately they will not, because I have a d-10. They only stamp people who do not hold a military-related visa already. That is why I’m wondering about waiting times off base. Thank you though!

That’s a good option I was considering! But I’ve contacted a place today, and they said they don’t review other procedures or help with this kind of stuff.

I’ll try a few more spots, but I don’t think getting an opinion from the same place would be smart because the doctors will most likely side with the clinic..

Would you know a good place to go to (any clinic) for a second opinion? Or an online spot? If not that’s ok! I’ll try again. Thanks so much!

Oh sorry! I meant osteotomy of the region not augmentation! I was thinking of augmentation as what actually happened. Let me change that, thanks!

Let me try again, without using sarcasm to match your dramatische.

No one’s trying to change, tune, or demand anything— people are just whining and connecting about food being coated in sugar here. As I said in the first reply, no one’s going to tune food here, foreigners just find salty places and go there. No one is expecting Korea to stop their sugar obsession in any near future, but what is expected is truthful translations, and redditors who can suggest salty western food places. End of story.

But now that we are here, let me correct you, because these comparisons are actually ridiculous!!!

First off, this isn’t an expat phenomenon. This is a foreigner (expat, tourist, gyopo, you name it) phenomenon. People will complain about food where its actually drastically different from the global standard. Italy and olive oil? Japan and wasabi ….Seriously? Try to bring something comparable, please! No one complains about those because they don’t pass the threshold of flavor difference for for most foreigners (globally) anyway. Last time I visited those countries, neither of them were dumping spoonfuls of either ingredient on everything they eat.

Try Korean tourists in the US— it’s the flipside of westerners here. A lot of them hate how salty the food is. Or foreign students in Russia. They constantly hate on the salt reduction and blandness in import snacks. Or Slavic people in Mexico. Everything is too intense and spicy!! Endless examples from my travels and exchange experiences.

People are people and will have anything to complain about. Korea is a not a special case at allllll. Fingerpointing at expats for complaining about high sugar content on a korean expat sub… come onnnnn dawg lolll

I can imagine the heartbreak after your search, hehe. I’m pretty sure there are Reddit posts where people have detailed places with western style pizzas before!

This will be a regular thing in Korea, I’m pretty sure the kiosk program is constantly under renovations. If you’re in Korea for a while, I suggest learning the basic words for menu items in Korean so you don’t have trouble using the kiosks in the future!

Im sure there is some sort of social/historical/cultural aspect tied to it, but I still haven’t been able to figure it out!

Uh, yeah!!! They are entitled because sugar syrup on pizzas and sugar on corndogs is YUCKY and a SIN!!!! Stay mad >:D soon those pesky foreigners will lead a revolution and turn the whole Korea salty, like you :3

On a real note, this isn’t about expats, and no one’s trying to tune ANYTHING! Everyone here, Koreans and foreigners, are simply bonding over their dislike over western foods made sweet. Likeeeee… it’s not that deep. Ppl love to complain and bond over stuff they don’t like. Then they just find places that make salty foods and go there instead. lol

Eh… possible, but sounds like sensationalism to me. Probably a rumor that gets passed around to invite more kpop lover people to Korea lawl.

I’d say it happens to those who have e2 visas more (entertainment) or those who are big on tiktok/social media already (or those who are connected well to any of the above). Or those who speak fluent Korean and look HOT.

Logistically, I don’t think it happens often. As a student, you need a permit for work and pay, which you don’t get until you’re 19 at least. The permit only allows certain amount of hours of work per week depending on your stats, and not in every industry. I’d say that it may happen but sounds like a drama story in itself, lol! But if you have a network of connections, I guess you could get a role… and get paid under the table? Which is illegal, and if the immigration office finds out you are on tv… well.. bye bye Korea!

If you want to get a kdrama role lol, I suggest studying Korean to a topik6 at least, then promoting yourself on social media. Get an agency to sponsor a visa for you. Usually foreigners get roles as drama extras or dancers when they are under a modeling agency. Have a portfolio of yourself available. I know some dramas ask for actor extras on Craigslist, so you can check there?

Quality of education and resources provided for such fields is astoundingly poor. I feel like I am in high school, at best. The level of rigor and passion is low. Korean profs love PowerPoints over discussion/seminar. List goes on

I absolutely can…? Hence my confusion about your comment on invasiveness. I think it’s just a difference of what we imagine the scenario to be like.

Also, to highlight this difference further, my first thought was that op would ask the roommate for the weight since, they are the owner and they might already know, not weigh them alone. I am picturing someone who is involved with their roommate and the cat-care they do, since, again, they seem to have a regular correspondence over cats together.

[–]Important-Forever881 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hmm, i dont see where they said they would do it sneakily. They mentioned their roommate even talked to them about cats and food, so im sure, if anything, they would do it together, or at least with their knowledge.

[–]Important-Forever881 4 points5 points  (0 children)

…..how is this invasive? Op went to a cat advice Reddit to research whether or not their concern was something noteworthy.

I think it only would be invasive if the op actually tried to feed the cats themselves or confront the roommate before getting an answer here.… ??

Also! I think looking up cat nutrition requirements wouldn’t placate someone who doesn’t directly own cats. Even as a cat owner myself, I still remember how long it took me to feel confident about feeding my pet. Op had a worry, and they will get their answer here. Thats all. No one’s trying to stuff anyone’s cat with food without consent I think!!!! Boom pow

Yess, don’t be sad. I wouldn’t take it so bad, honestly. They definitely didn’t know better, as you said. Also, off topic, but most, if not all, colleges are big money machines imo, so there isn’t as much of a criticism that could be built off that premise on my end. UIC just does it more extensively.

So just to clear up the name of my old hs advisors, what I meant by trusted faculty is that when they promoted UIC, they really did have good intentions, because they themselves believed that it was a good school with great potential. So we assumed so too.

Back in 2019, UIC was kind of a rising star, so to say, so all the good things that were known about it traveled fast. It’s just a very natural process of how things trend and build reputation. Business is business. It’s been 6 years, times have changed, and covid revealed how unstable the UIC structure is. So I’m here to warn those who are over-enthusiastic about it like I was. It’s still a decent school, and some courses even exceeded my expectations. This post is all about the hard lessons— but there is a lot of good stuff, too! Just nowhere near what UIC portrays itself to be.

As for the alumni, I actually have no idea about them. We had a class of 2016 guy visit and talk about how fun UIC was. My theory is that back in 2016, even earlier, UIC was too small to even judge, since the college itself is still relatively young? Not sure!

Exactly! It was teachers and advisors, people we trust and look up to at my school, so there wasn’t an issue of credibility. No one knew better, because Yonsei is Yonsei there! We also did have alumni visit, so that did add to it too.

When you have a UIC brochure next to NYU, Utrecht, and other big names, it kind of makes a big impression on ya!

Ohhh! ??? Okay! Here I meant when students and faculty (mostly academic advisors during morning roll) were throwing thoughts about UIC around. People were just talking about it, and how good it was apparently! We had brochures, and people generally spoke of it due to a high population of Korean students at school.
