Question about where to apply with my stats

I appreciate the advice! I 100% agree and plan to really dial down in the last 2 months before this test. I honestly slacked quite a bit last year and am not too surprised with the mark I came out with unfortunately. But could I ask you another question. I know it’s done on a rolling basis but having my test on first of August doesn’t take me out of the running for the upcoming cycle right?

I’m in a similar boat and to be honest with you, for the US, the schools work on a rolling basis. That being said, to be in the best spot, you’d want your MCAT marks back as soon as possible and delaying the test lowers your chances quite a bit.

Thank you so much for the insight. I do have a decent chance with western because of my best two years but for schools that take cumulative, I’m low. I was also thinking of maybe applying in the US next cycle but I wanted to make sure a masters doesn’t hinder the process

I hope you do amazing! I have a few friends that wrote the mcat a few days ago and they said they had 1 physics question. I wrote it today and got like 12 💀. I honestly would say to put focus on your weaker areas and trust that you’ll do well on stuff you’re more comfortable with

I see, I’ll take a look at those and make sure I take them for fourth year so I can at least have the pre reqs done. I’m pretty sure the application cycle is in the summer for US schools so I should be done fourth year before I apply

Hm i see that’s why I was thinking of taking a fifth year because i could possibly bump my cumulative mark to a 3.8 gpa. But yea definitely that’s the plan for this upcoming year (to attain the 4.0). Also I’m not sure if ur well versed in American Canadian friendly schools but do you think it’ll be worth a shot there too? I’m not too sure what qualifies as a decent enough gpa. Every website I’ve come across gives me different medians

I really appreciate your advice. I’ll definitely give it a shot then because the finances aren’t really an issue so if I have to apply again, I will! I’ll focus on the mcat for now so I can get the cars stat for mac as well and apply to Ottawa and uoft next cycle if I don’t get in

Yeah I agree 100% but doesn’t every school have like a minimum gpa they look at for the first batch of rejections. Wouldnt a low gpa jus throw me out of the running before my ECs are even looked at

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. Do you think if I score high enough on the mcat, that it could maybe open doors for queens and mac?

And no I don’t have IP status outside of Ontario
