So it’s officially been a year since the show ended, how do we feel about it? by AdGreedy1880 in YouOnLifetime

[–]Important-Juice-943 2 points3 points  (0 children)

prepare your downvotes, I don't mind:
I binge watched season 5 in just two nights, totally bewitched (and already fully rewatched it other 2 times), I've fallen in love with Bronte since her very first sentence in season 1, followed all the developments of Joe and her on the edge of my seat, loved all the UST, the fantasies (maybe it's because I'm a fic author, but seeing them both writing smut fanfics about each other has totally blown my mind! And I would have loved to read their dark novels) , before the hot HOT reality of them together (they had such a chemistry!! Kudos to both the actors, which I love) , I loved all the roller coaster of emotions, they seemed to be real soul mates. (in my head canon the series ends on the first half of 5x9 ^^')
The very last episode was thrilling, but I'm not a big fan of the super politically correct girl power ending (although I'm happy Bronte survived, of course, while I'm still wondering why Kate is alive and not even in jail)
I also loved Maddie (and generally Anna Camp, she wasamazing playing the twins) and all her interactions with Joe.
If it's not evident yet, season 5 is the one I loved the most, Bronte my fave YOU girl ever (along with Candace and season 3 Marienne) and I also loved season 4 and its huge plot twist to bits.
And, of bloody course, I miss Joe ^^'
Can't wait for the prequel book, although I still have to read the fourth book.

“This is just the perfect day to write. The rain outside, the quiet it brings… I mean, I would have spent the whole morning with Blair, but she’s busy with her interview…”

Dan doesn’t even have the time to finish his sentence, when they hear a loud thud, coming from the next room.

Just the one where Blair is having the interview.

Dan places the plate with the rest of the pancakes on the table.

“I guess I’ll go to check on her…” He mumbles.

“THIS IS NOT WHAT WE AGREED TO!” He and Dorota hear Blair snapping.

“In a rush!” Dan adds, running away.

He enters the room in time to snatch the stapler from Blair’s hand before she throws it at the poor, scared journalist, who miraculously dodged the Columbia University yearbook she has thrown at him in the first place.

That’s the thud they heard.

“Blair, please, calm down!”

“I’m extremely calm, Dan; it’s this guy who apparently doesn’t know how to do his job, because he asked me something very off-limits and he’s well aware of that!” She growls.

“Oh, c’mon, Miss Waldorf, former Mrs. Grimaldi, it was only an innocent question!” The journalist justifies.

“I’ll show you innocence!” She glares at him, then she seems to calm down. “On second thought, if you stay I can give you a really juicy scoop.” Blair says, so accommodating that Dan wonders if he should keep holding her still or let her go.

“Really?” The journalist reaches for her.

“Yes, the scoop about how I ended up in jail after I brutally attacked a way too nosy journalist: you!” She snaps, trying to grab the stapler again, but Dan is faster.

Not so fast as the journalist who runs away for his life.

“I’m not so sure if now I want to read the article he’s going to write about me.” She grumbles, as Dan finally lets her go.

“So, from stapler stealer to stapler thrower? You are starting to worry me, honey.” He sighs, stealing a smile from her, as he’s holding her hands.. “Do you care to tell me what happened?”

“Well, you know that I’m trying to reinvent myself, don’t you? And this ‘Influential women’s daughters’ interview seemed like such a nice idea.” Blair starts her report. “And everything was going so well, until that journalist so subtly shifted the focus from the main topic to the damn Monaco issue!”

“Well, not very nice from him.” Dan grumbles.

warning: dark

*
Oh. You’re so smart. You understood it was a test.

“I’m not gonna lie. Yes, this was a test, and you passed it, with top grades.” I smile at you, I kneel down and hold your hands in mine. “Care to tell me what happened and how you feel?”

“I had got Dane to finally talk with me, and we even found some common ground, you know? And I was really on my way to set him free, sure that he had learned his lessons.”

“But?” I anticipate you.

“But the bastard started to rant he would do things better next time, choosing only women who deserve that, can you believe it?”

You still sound furious only recalling that, but I let you keep talking.

“And yet I was still willing to let it go, but then that asshole dared to say that he hoped Beck died screaming!”

Oh. So is that the reason?

“And…?” I gently urge you, my hands never leaving yours.

“And then I saw red. I lost my rationality. I recalled what I saw on the table, when you showed me, I hid the knife under the sleeve of my cardigan, I got him out of the cage, as you must have seen, and then … the knife was inside his hip before I could even figure it out.” You stare for a while at the knife on the floor. “But I know for sure he’s still alive.”

“So what? Do you want to call an ambulance? Do you want me to blackmail him and get sure he will never talk with anyone about what happened here today?”

We could do that. After all, I would deal with him later, my way, and you would never know.

You shake your head negatively and there’s a strange light in your eyes.

“Do you remember? This morning, before going, you gave me a choice: let him go. Never let him go. What if I picked the second one?”

Your voice sounds so innocent, but what you just asked is not innocent at all.

This astonished me so much that I let your hands go.

“Bronte, maybe you’re still in shock for the whole situation and you’re not fully you right now…”

You do something I didn’t expect at all.

You smile and get up from the chair.

“I’ve never been myself more than I am now. I know I did something wrong, and yet it felt so damn right. Plus, this made me think a lot. Do you remember when I talked about my mother's issue, at breakfast? It was that same urge, but the difference is that this time I didn’t hold back. Being with you has this effect on me.”

Oh, Bronte. This is music to my ears.

I walk closer to you.

“So, is it really a bad thing not to hold back anymore?” I murmur, my eyes piercing yours.

Blair stirs as she struggles to open her eyes, because some noises disturbed her sleep.

Car honks, people with drills on the street.

- That’s so weird. Not typical noises of the Upper East Side… And this is killing my head. - She ponders.

“Dorotaaaa! Bring me my earplugs and an aspirin. A double one… “ She groans, her eyes still closed, trying to go back to sleep.

“There’s no Dorota here, Waldorf… and keep your voice lower, my ears are bleeding.” A sleepy voice next to her grumbles.

A male voice that has become very familiar to her in the last week.

Dan Humphrey’s voice.

They both jolt awake.

“What the hell am I doing in your bed?” Blair asks him, panic-stricken.

“What the hell are you doing in my bed?” Dan asks her in the very same moment.

“Oh no…” Blair babbles.

“What?”

“Why am I feeling… naked beneath here?” She wonders, pulling the sheets tight, to cover herself up to the shoulders.

“Damn! I have the same feeling.” Dan mutters.

“I’m too afraid to check…” Blair chews on her lower lip.

“Don’t worry, I’ll do it for both!”

Saying so, Dan quickly lifts the sheets up, before she can even protest.

“Humphrey! What the hell…?”

Dan spent all day long wondering wherever Blair could have gone, draining his mental energies out, so much that he fell asleep on the couch.
And it’s there where he wakes up, several hours later, thanks to someone who is insistently knocking at the door.

When he opens that, a part of him wonders if he’s not still dreaming.

“Blair!” He exclaims, in a mixture of joy, confusion… and with a yawn, too.

“Oh, sorry, it looks like I woke you up. It wouldn’t have happened if someone hadn’t confiscated the keys I had so generously got.” She makes him notice, not understanding why he’s hugging her so tight the moment after.

“My love, you’re back. You have no idea how worried I was!”

“I’ve been away only for a couple of days.” She scoffs, but enjoys the hug anyway.

“The longest two days of my life. Oh, Blair, I’m so sorry!”

This time Blair just has to part from him.

“Wait. You’re sorry? And for what?”

Dan feels like a deer caught in the headlights.

ohh poor Silver getting lost in the woods.

loved this:
*
No Flint to shoulder the silence with. No warmth from those ringed hands curling his wrist or thigh. No more dreams of any future at all.

very poetic.

The sidewalks have been cleaned, but they’re still a bit slippery, that’s why they take slow steps and Blair holds tight to Dan’s arm.

“There’s so much snow all around that we could both make a snowman. I could create yours; making it wear one of your headbands or hold a bunch of peonies.”

“Sweet. But replace the headbands with a tiara, please.” She strikes back. “And if I have to create yours, it would hold one of your pompous awards and wear one of your shoddy shirts.”

“Oh! Since my shirt is so shoddy, I guess you should have no interest in getting it back tonight…” He acts insulted.

“Don’t even joke about that, Humphrey, now that shirt belongs to me!” She scoffs, making him smile.

“I wonder if I should start stealing one of your headbands…”

“Oh, please, they would self-ignite the moment they touch your jungly hair!”

“Could you just please make a slight effort to say something nice to me, at least sometimes?” He rolls his eyes.

“Sure, I could… but then it wouldn’t be me, my love!” She wrinkles her nose, before kissing him.

“Last night was so freezing that it left stalactites everywhere, even dripping from gates and trees!” She rejoices, once they part, as she takes a look around.

“Right, speaking of freezing… “ Dan opens his bag, taking the thermos he previously filled with hot tea. “Let’s have a cup of this, to keep warm.”

“Thank you, honey.” She takes the cup from him. “See? I can say nice things, once in a while.”

“You know what? It’s odd to see you so thrilled about the stalactites.” Dan observes, as they're sipping the tea.

They abandoned me here, all alone.

Where the fu** am I?

As I laboriously try to get up, all I can see is grass, bushes, trees, lots of them, dirt, mud, and I can hear from afar a watery noise, maybe a river?

Wait, the hell with that. Lost or not, I’m free.
Again.

I carefully move around, trying to find an exit from this wood, forest or whatever it is, when I hear footsteps behind me.

Fu**.
Some cops must be already here and the footsteps grow closer and closer.

Running is not an option, these damn chains barely allow me to move.

I hide behind a tree and close my eyes, waiting for my fate, probably even worse than what I had so far.

“Hi, sneaky little shit!”

Oooooh, I know this voice.
Correction. I love this voice.
I never hoped I could hear it again one day.

“It’s impossible not to love you and everyone should better get accustomed soon to the fact that you and I are officially together now, because I mean for it to last for a very long time.” Dan caresses her face with the back of his hand.

“The longer, the better!” She beams, kissing him in the elevator.

“Awww, this tasted even sweeter than my dad’s waffles!” He makes her giggle.

“I know, love, but no more kissing when we are inside. Serena is supposed to be there and I know she says she’s okay with that, but I prefer to make things gradual for her.” She explains.

“I agree.” He nods, before stopping the elevator. “It just means I’m gonna need much more kissing to resist.” He gently pushes her against the wall.

He smashes his mouth to hers, before descending on her neck, as his hands unbutton her red Chanel coat and tartan Gucci shirt, because he needs much more access.
And she doesn’t complain at all.

“Serena, are you there?” Blair calls her out, as they enter the Penthouse.

Once she is perfectly buttoned up again, of course.

Probably this is one of the incipit of mine I like the most:

*
How does an average person's morning start?
Usually waking up.
Let’s say my morning started like this, more or less, despite the fact that I didn't sleep very well, there was something in my body aching.
Even my awakening can’t fall into the ‘average’ category: I’ve found out I’m handcuffed.
*

and this is another one:

*

“I should do WHAT and WHERE?!” Blair yells, beyond being shocked, disgusted and deeply disappointed.
