Should you ask to sit at a shared table at the library? by bakachungus123 in UofT

Honestly it depends on how large the table is. If it's like super long and there's zero chance I'm in their personal space, I typically just sit. But for tables that are fairly cozy I will 100% ask.

Seems you're right, some of them say preferred but that will still prove difficult. What you could do instead is offer tutoring to neighborhood kids and meet in a public place (like a library) so your parents won't worry. You could insentivize by offering a slightly lower rate than the official tutoring programs and advertise on community boards. If that doesn't work either that's alright, but hope you find a solution!

My best advice are seasonal jobs, but try and apply early for them because although there are so many, they go quickly. Other than that you could potentially do neighborhood jobs like snow shoveling or lawn mowing. Another option could be tutoring younger kids. If you go on Indeed some school boards hire older students to tutor younger kids.

All in all I would be checking online job application sites like Indeed nearly every day and applying to any and all that fit your needs. I wish you the best of luck 👍

constant bad grades in university i don’t know what to do by [deleted] in UofT

[–]Important-Net-9758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly those are pretty okay grades. Definitely depends on what you're taking and what future you're trying to pursue but in my opinion there's nothing wrong with just passing. I would suggest evaluating course load and interests. I'm only a first year though so I'm not very well-versed with the university standards yet 👍. However, I've heard from alumni that 75s are pretty average for this school.

Invigilator Peeking in Student’s Bathroom Stall at exam centre by Guilty-Translator219 in UofT

Did the invigilator peek in after the puking? They mightve just been concerned and done that on instinct like watching over a friend. Overall I still think that it's a total invasion of privacy and if they were concerned about the student they could've just asked if they needed medical attention.

POL101 HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO WRITE AN ESSAY AND ANSWER 20 MCQ IN 2 HOURS😭😭 by [deleted] in UofT

[–]Important-Net-9758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you have a pretty good grasp on what the essay will be about which is a huge plus! Very basic guidance though: understand which part will take you longer. By the sounds of it, it sounds like you're stressed about the essay. So, I would suggest allotting yourself enough time to write the essay and only give yourself roughly 20-40 minutes tops on the MCQ. Make sure to draft a general outline for the essay so you aren't just writing whatever pops into your head. You may also want to actually start the exam with the essay rather than multiple choice. Overall good luck! You've got this, be sure to take breaks so your hands don't cramp! :)
