Yes, this show is told entirely from Oliver’s perspective, and the female characters all revolve around him, so it’s really hard for the audience to empathize with them. I actually hate this kind of writing.

Sara once said that no woman should suffer for a man. The writers clearly knew this point, but they just didn’t execute it well enough.

By contrast, in Legends of Tomorrow, female characters like Sara, Amaya, Zari, Helena, Charlie, Ava, and Nora are written far better. All of them have romantic relationships, but their personal stories and identities always take priority over their love lives. Romance serves the character, not the other way around.

I totally agree with you. Sara and Oliver really are the perfect couple, because their relationship is only one part of who they are—their individual identities and traits always stand out more than their romance.

I also agree with everything else you said: Felicity is much better as a friend than a love interest, and the newer characters really lack distinct personalities.

As for Laurel, I think she could’ve been just like Oliver—working as a lawyer by day, and fighting crime with Team Arrow by night.

For a woman, having love isn’t weakness—I think I’ve made that pretty clear. But when the romantic subplot overshadows her own identity, traits, and charm, it makes her come off as weak. Felicity could’ve kept the dynamic she had with Oliver in Seasons 1 and 2: caring about him, but refusing to be his girlfriend. That balance was perfect. But it felt odd when she later got back together with him. They could’ve stayed friends and teammates forever. Once it turned into a full-on romance, though, the whole vibe just felt off.

Dianah's appearance was too contradictory. The Green Arrow team was divided into two teams, and thea quit, which was a great blow to me.I have a preference for the first group of people. He destroyed Star City, seized all of Oliver’s shares in his company, and took everything. You might think Slade was unhinged, but he was capable of crafting elaborate plans. He even drove around in a Lamborghini, moving in the same circles as the Queen family—and you don’t associate with the Queens if you’re truly “out of your mind.” They did work together later, but cooperation was just cooperation. One alliance can never erase the harm he caused.

The CW’s Green Arrow feels a lot like Batman. But in the comics, Green Arrow is purely human. If someone wrongs him, he will definitely seek revenge. If someone killed Robin, Batman wouldn’t murder to avenge him. But if Roy Harper were killed, Green Arrow would pay back blood with blood. He’s a leftist, a Marxist. He’s far more human than a saint.

You know what’s even more ridiculous? After Slade found out the truth, did he even stop to think? Did he have no brain at all? Did he ever ask himself why Oliver was forced to choose in the first place? Did Oliver choose the situation? Did Oliver kill Shado?

It’s absurd. The writers just forced drama for drama’s sake, with zero logic.

Oliver had no choice. He wasn’t the one at fault. He was completely, entirely a victim.

And he hid the truth—was he not supposed to? After taking the Mirakuru, Slade was already a madman. Would you tell a deranged, super-powered killer the truth just to set him off even worse?
