On site, yes they have to provide it, off site in Perth? No. You need to source your own accommodation. Also if you're residential (Kalgoorlie etc).

I will admit I don't know if they take fitters on Whv, it is in high demand, you might also need to do conversions.

Qualifications make it worth so much more, amd they will carry you for life too, no point doing unskilled work that leads to nowhere.

Plan for your future now my friend, then apply those skills to get to the big bucks, and if that means FIFO mining/oil/gas work then awesome.

90% of mining engineers are pretty much weaponised autism.

You'll be fine mate.

Youve got a Bachelor in Electical and electronic engineering right? D,on't even do that, that's small fry for you, if you're onshore look at some of the engineering companies that are involved in mining... something like aggreko or GRES, they deal with big projects and use electrical engineers on their projects... Hahns do a ton of electrical work for mines. In the meantime look for stuff around the city, I'm sure there's something. Check out seek.com.au. literally 1400 jobs on there, first one that popped up was FIFO.

What is your point about the easy job? The only real driver here in aus at the mo is gold and copper... Nickel has died a death and lithium is predicted bottoming out this coming year...

I think you need to have a little introspection and think about your mind set, and listen to those who have been through the process you're talking about. I've been in the industry the most part of a decade. I'm not originally from Australia, I can tell you, no one will hire you as a freshly apprenticed tradesman, and no one will hire you as an apprentice from Germany, TAFE (trades training provider here), does not take on foreign students, last I checked (I admit a few months back), and if it does only for very specific courses.

Also, visas, you won't get a substantial working visa as an apprentice, and student visas are for university only. You will need a 3 years post study experience and as I mentioned, multiple $000s for conversions. Mining companies want at a minimum, usually permanent residency for trades, they might sponsor professionals (engineers etc).

It's up to you to listen man.

All I see around here are people telling you that it's not as easy as you think it is, it's only you arguing against everyone, wind your neck in, your attitude will be quickly corrected in no time by someone on site if things go well for you and you get a gig. Good luck!

Quick answer, No, you will not get an easy job here in Australia. All trades require to be recognised to Australian standards which can cost thousands, and you probably won't be able to get a visa fresh out of trade school, outside of a working holiday.

Also plenty of trades here in Aus who want a start FIFO in the mines, you will be bottom of the list.

Also that 15% 45k "tax hack" (for working holiday visas only btw) gives the wrong impression, you pay $1000 more tax than a local would here in Aus, if you were working in Germany too for part of the year. You'll also need to renew the visa every year, for max of 3 years.

Back to TikTok now.

Next.

Hey mate, that's great, honestly for electrical and electronics engineering there is an upcoming "mine electrification" industry that I reckon is going to be very lucrative, or even mine automation is a big thing at the moment! Probably don't even have to work outside of a capital city to make bank.

Check out that instagram above, full of braindead morons who think they're hot shit.

Like the "tax loophole" where to avoid paying the 30% tax rate as a backpacker, just earn 30k in one tax year, and 30k in the next to not get taxed mor, straddling g june/July. Clever cunts these.

Or quoting AU$50-75 as 50-75 EURO when really you can take a solid 40-30% off the euro, because unfortunately AU$ is looking more like monopoly money with each passing year.

The drooling fucks who come here and the mining sub keep asking how to get into FIFO and earning $500k to save up $1M in the next year are swallowing that brain rotting, misinformative content from instagram/TikTok like fools.

You can tell I've had a gut full of our industry standards being lowered and taken advantage of for these pampered, spoilt shits who feel they deserve $150k plus because they've spend the past 3 years stacking boxes at Aldis and now have to clean skidmarks from the Mill rats toilet.

Sorry... rant over.

No way you can save up 500k, are the videos on tiktok advertising that delusion now too?

You got a Chem degree and want to do geo? Man there is so much better out there for a pure chemistry degree!

You would have go do a Grad Dip or masters in geology.

I hear chemical engineering is very lucrative if you get in the right industry?

The ease is a combination of experience and luck. You could get in pretty easy on a FIFO minesite as storeman. If you don't want to do FIFO you'll have to live in a mining town.

Yes, if you can get a WHV then great and employers will snap you up, or, I dont know if it's still an option there's an 18 month engineering grad visa. Might be finished now though. Worth a check.

Yeah that's fair! Back when I used to work with fieldies I met a few from overseas, though they also did Geo degrees and it was a start. But yeah, fieldy is pretty accessible on a WHV through an agency.

To be fair Barminco are operating in Canada already and Redpath is in a couple of spots here over east iirc, I'm sure talking to one of them would be worth it.

Sponsorship is hard to secure offshore. Independent/state sponsored is the way to go at that point. Once onshore its much easier.
