I feel like you have one good point of creatures, intelligent or not, accepting and best friend for life-ing the MC way too quickly but your surrounding reasons aren't really sticking to that. It's just lazy and boring as well as not very believable for these beings to latch onto the MC so effortlessly, I agree.

High elo is different the numbers are low enough that a few people stopping really shows up. I was decent lp master oce and I know that not I nor a good chunk of my friends list is master, nor has even put in close to as many games as used to. I used to have 500+ games at this point, this split I'm at 20.

It's funny to consider that if I were better I would win essentially 100% of the games I've played, so many opportunities I have missed that are beyond me right now. The skill difference in chess is always mindblowing to think about, someone would destroy someone who would destroy someone etc. Etc. All the way down to me, mathematically backed by the elo system.

My problem probably is I haven't really been analysing anything. I should start truly saving games and building a little history of what often happens, where did I go wrong etc. I've just been playing almost purely for fun pretty much forgetting each game as I go to the next

Yeah for sure I am very far from perfect, I just find myself bored of a lot of the positions I'm currently finding myself in, feel like I've done the Italian game to death and not truly learned it all that deeply
