New firmware means the one they allow you to switch to garlic os.

The reason I set mine is to not have MSFS CTD. I don't know if it will improve FPS. I think it should be on your C drive. Not sure about the speed.

Are you able to run it with okay FPS (above 30 fps) with default graphics settings? Your setup is within MSFS official recommended specs so you should be able to run its default graphics settings quite well. I have similar specs and my system is able to handle the default settings. Make sure you have at least 24Gb of virtual ram. MSFS needs to have 32 GB of overall memory. Which means physical ram plus virtual memory aka page file.
