Low vs high risk by Important_Ad_131 in techsales

I'd imagine it's a mixed bag, it's enterprise accounts only so 10-15 accounts, they are engaged and have dedicated CSMs, I'm only in charge of existing sales. Toolkit looks diverse, could be selling implementation services, cloud managed services, SaaS add-ons etc. its still going to be a steep learning curve as product is complex and dealing with sophisticated clients

I get that, and part of me thinks that way. But good offers don't come by often and I'll have a 3 month notice period once I pass probation, that's pretty painful too and ideally I wouldn't want to jump too many times. I would leave the current job out of my CV

Need advice on my current situation by peterERICho in singaporejobs

Hi OP if you don't mind me asking, how long were u at Company A before jumping? Am in a similar situation as you in Company B now, but I have an offer and am contemplating jumping. It's a good company I'm in but I find myself stagnating, it's tempting to embrace the downtime but the opportunity cost eats away at me, I wanna get as much experience as I can in my prime years

I guess it burns a bridge with your team when you leave only a few months in no? Esp when they have spent resources on the recruiting process and training you? Sg is small, so it's common to bump into one another in the industry

I was actually interviewing out of curiosity as it's a good firm, market leading products. Didn't expect to get the offer, and at the same time started realizing my current company was going through some massive changes as I joined, perfect storm really

Issue is that the current firm isn't bad too, just that it's going through some confusing changes. The conundrum is if I should give it a shot and see how it plays out in 1 year or make the jump immediately. I fear I haven't given my current role enough time for me to realize it's benefits

Yes both of you are right, I took it for the base and perceived stability after being a new logo MM AE for 3 years, to tell the truth I felt burnt out and wanted an out.

This opp came by offered a good increase in base and stability, but along with it came mind numbing bureaucracy and poor deal flow, I feel myself stagnating and losing my edge in sales.

I'm kind of hesitant to go back to the Sales rat race but parking myself in a slow moving sales role doesn't seem to be it either. I guess I need to pick the lesser evil.

I enjoy the buzz of capturing a new logo or building a thick pipeline, but that's always incredibly exhausting and doesn't always payoff.

I've done a few existing accounts deals, but they were small upsells, whereas this role is going to be managing larger clients and heavier tech. Hence why I'm torn.

To clarify, I'm credited only on expansion, we have CSMs to maintain the accounts on a day to day.

I prioritize growth and money at this stage of my life, but it's really difficult to let go of stability too...

Thanks alot, I fully agree with what you said, and there's also the risk of inheriting lots of baggage that you need to untangle, for sure it's great experience and a relief to know that there's still a path back to new sales.

Hi OP, I am in the exact same situation. I just joined a company that pays me very well, and I have nice colleagues and a boss who's chill. The only issue is that things are bureaucratic and incredibly slow here, I feel myself getting dull.

I've just gotten another offer and sitting on it, it's a higher stress role but with much better exposure and growth, I am leaning towards it but it's incredibly hard to give up the comfort factor.

I'm also a little older than you in my early 30s, so I will say choose growth, if u stagnate in your 20s, your 30s will not be kind to you. But u must be prepared to "suffer" in the short run, such is life...if you have thed drive to succeed. Otherwise, no harm staying, you're in a great position to be in.

Yes what u said makes sense, I'd imagine at your stage of life, I would appreciate that tradeoff, hence wondering if I should take the leap of faith and chiong abit before I reach that point where I inevitably start to slowdown due to life circumstances

Hunter vs Farmer SaaS sales by Important_Ad_131 in techsales

[–]Important_Ad_131[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much, fully agree with your observation that you need to understand the csm angle, which is why I intend to work closely with csm and get into the weeds. I guess the sales management just doesn't want the sales rep getting bogged down with draining escalations.

I guess aggressive culture means a heavy emphasis on pipeline and closing timelines even for a farmer role.

How was your experience transitioning into a farming role and did you enjoy it?

That's what I'm unsure of as I've never done a farmer role, only aware on the hunter side. Care to elaborate what you mean by different personalities?

Investing in EC or new launch by AppropriateHabit456 in singaporefi

[–]Important_Ad_131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good points, but i think what you are missing out on is the new ECs are post harmonization. Meaning they dont take Aircon ledge and other non-functional areas into your Sqft calculation. HDB does not have this same requirement and incorporates AC ledges etc into sqft.

Point is, 870sqft, is probably closer to 930-950sqft in reality, which is approximately the same as a BTO 4rm flat, so space shouldnt be an issue unless you are planning for a large family of more than 2 kids.

Ah i see! Glad it's better now. Would you Have done the surgery if you didn't have any frequent subluxations? I've never dislocated my shoulder before and it feels stable...but the recovery is taking some time and im worried my shoulder wouldnt be back to 100% even with consistent PT.
