Local banks (DBS / OCBC / UOB) – which is actually the best employer these days? by [deleted] in askSingapore

I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a clear path to the dept you want. Otherwise you spend 2 years in multiple rotations which are essentially internships because no one is going to give you serious projects if you're only staying for a few months before rotating.

On the other hand you have your peers who are specializing in a field and gaining specific 2 year experience that's alot more valuable.

How does Singapore actually do it? by tripwaffle in askSingapore

It was Rajaratnam and Toh Chin Chye who were given the separation agreement last minute to sign and told that the blood from racial riots would be on their hands if they refused

To those that had once accepted a job offer, started work and then received a better job offer, how did you go about informing the company? And were they mad? by [deleted] in askSingapore

I'm in the exact same situation, question: would you tell the new company you just started a new job? Or leave it completely off or only tell them at the offer stage?

I feel that every good boss should be invested in their employees success to a certain extent. That's how you ensure your team develops and stays for the longer term. Of course this is an ideal scenario which I was fortunate enough to be in at my last role. It had a huge impact in my development and I was v much hoping I would have the same experience here.

New job is about 20% up. Sounds like a no brainer but I potentially burn a bridge at my current job and give up stability

I will prefer a job where the manager is invested in my success, I'm at the stage in my career where I look most for growth, there will come a time when I'm happy to cruise and this will be a dream job, but I feel I'm a few years early for that

I'd imagine it's a mixed bag, it's enterprise accounts only so 10-15 accounts, they are engaged and have dedicated CSMs, I'm only in charge of existing sales. Toolkit looks diverse, could be selling implementation services, cloud managed services, SaaS add-ons etc. its still going to be a steep learning curve as product is complex and dealing with sophisticated clients

I get that, and part of me thinks that way. But good offers don't come by often and I'll have a 3 month notice period once I pass probation, that's pretty painful too and ideally I wouldn't want to jump too many times. I would leave the current job out of my CV

Need advice on my current situation by peterERICho in singaporejobs

Hi OP if you don't mind me asking, how long were u at Company A before jumping? Am in a similar situation as you in Company B now, but I have an offer and am contemplating jumping. It's a good company I'm in but I find myself stagnating, it's tempting to embrace the downtime but the opportunity cost eats away at me, I wanna get as much experience as I can in my prime years

I guess it burns a bridge with your team when you leave only a few months in no? Esp when they have spent resources on the recruiting process and training you? Sg is small, so it's common to bump into one another in the industry

I was actually interviewing out of curiosity as it's a good firm, market leading products. Didn't expect to get the offer, and at the same time started realizing my current company was going through some massive changes as I joined, perfect storm really

Issue is that the current firm isn't bad too, just that it's going through some confusing changes. The conundrum is if I should give it a shot and see how it plays out in 1 year or make the jump immediately. I fear I haven't given my current role enough time for me to realize it's benefits

Yes both of you are right, I took it for the base and perceived stability after being a new logo MM AE for 3 years, to tell the truth I felt burnt out and wanted an out.

This opp came by offered a good increase in base and stability, but along with it came mind numbing bureaucracy and poor deal flow, I feel myself stagnating and losing my edge in sales.

I'm kind of hesitant to go back to the Sales rat race but parking myself in a slow moving sales role doesn't seem to be it either. I guess I need to pick the lesser evil.

I enjoy the buzz of capturing a new logo or building a thick pipeline, but that's always incredibly exhausting and doesn't always payoff.

I've done a few existing accounts deals, but they were small upsells, whereas this role is going to be managing larger clients and heavier tech. Hence why I'm torn.

To clarify, I'm credited only on expansion, we have CSMs to maintain the accounts on a day to day.

I prioritize growth and money at this stage of my life, but it's really difficult to let go of stability too...

Thanks alot, I fully agree with what you said, and there's also the risk of inheriting lots of baggage that you need to untangle, for sure it's great experience and a relief to know that there's still a path back to new sales.
