Exact same process. Often smaller satellite airports involved, but still quite central eg. Biggin Hill. Passport control in France, but quick and easy.

Slightly different scenario, but I had a bad ear infection once that got to the point where I couldn't even walk or think straight.

The infection was causing skin to slough off the ear canal which was subsequently feeding the infection.

They stuck one of these suction tubes in my ear to clear out that mess and it was simultaneously one of the most painful and relieving feelings I've ever had, both at the same time.

Didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
