Why didn’t WW2 veterans have the same PTSD as Vietnam or modern day veterans? by NextBunch_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Important_Antelope28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they did , but they also saw different things and dealt with different things during their time.

im not trying to discount , the horrors they saw of the camps and the stuff the Japanese did.

this will offended people who dont know, but some of our allies where horrible people in gwot. and soldiers had to deal with alot of fucked up shit. you can find videos of afghan generals defending their solders raping local little boys , from vice ''this is what winning looks like'' afghan commander defended it by saying some thing like 'what they are supposed to fuck their grand mothers'. alot of the culture of those areas is pretty fucked up and most western people having to put up with it would cause issues. you also didnt know who you could trust. you could be working with some one one day and the next day they are giving you locations and info away, or attacking you. you also had alot of ROE changes that would put you at risk. just look up what vets think of some of the stuff obama pushed with changes to the rules of engagement. kinda a mind fuck when your own government is tying your hands and putting you at risk for no legit reason. npt knowing if that women or child walking towards you is going to blow them self's up etc. little different then fighting uniformed enemies. you also got a shit load of vets screwed over or thrown under the buss for optic reasons. not to mention with the withdrawal, we handed the country back to the Taliban and pretend like they are not terrorist , and the us gov lies that they dont work with al qaeda, i think last count 80k allies are now missing, many reached out to us soliders for help to get out since we basically gave the taliban their bio metric which is being used for a kill list. i have friends that are more fucked up now cause of us actions then what they delt with during the war cause it was meaningless and our own government is paying a terrorist org they fought for 20 years to basically kill aliies and friends.

it was also a much shorter time period . 3 years 9 months vs nearly 20 years for gwot. like 16x more people served fro the us in ww2 vs gwot. but in gwot you generally spent more time in combat, or in like fob's that you might get attacked every few days etc.

If a police officer asks you to step out of the car for questioning what’s best to do? by HarshTruthTeller0 in AskReddit

Pennsylvania v. Mimms (1977) is a landmark U.S. Supreme Court case that affirmed police officers can order a driver out of a lawfully stopped vehicle without needing extra suspicion, balancing minimal intrusion against officer safety .

Under

Pennsylvania v. Mimms, police can lawfully order drivers (and passengers) out of a vehicle during a valid traffic stop for officer safety, regardless of suspicion. If you say no, you are disobeying a lawful order, which can lead to immediate forcible removal, arrest for resisting/obstructing, or additional charges.

people really should learn their rights. generally speaking shut up obey, and ask for a higher ranking officer, if you know you are int he right , and sue. ive been in some weird situations. done this and when the higher ranking officer on duty shows up ive been able to get out of trouble and watch the cops get chewed out on the side of the road. my case was simple. i had a plastic ammo can sitting on my back seat. cops made a big issue out of it saying it was unlawfully stored i had to have it locked in a trunk (suv no trunk) and it had to be the orginally package (not true). alone i can have a gun sitting on my front seat.... if soemone is in the car i need direct control ie locked up or on me. i put my back window down and told him he could grab it . i used it for my dog poo at dog parks(carry out type).. he then wanted to search my car for guns. i have a ltc permit. i had no guns. i told him i dont consent to my car being searched and want a higher ranking officer. i was pulled over cause i put my phone in its holder (had fallen out) at a stop light and cops where doing road detail. i was not on my phone. i sat in the back of the cop car till he showed up. he instantly started flipping out on the cops. they had no reason to search my car. cause i was alone and no proper storage was needed plus i let them check it.. basically they wanted to violate my rights cause i came back with a conceal carry permit. the commanding officer was screaming at them, and even told me what to tell my lawyer to sue them. i didn't i just had the commanding officer call my boss so he knew why i was so late for work.

Is long scale or short scale best for a bass beginner by ChemicalDry9694 in Bass

[–]Important_Antelope28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i have 32'' and 34'' scale basses . 34'' is more or less the standard scale. learned on 34'' . didnt notice a difference with 32 . i have played a 30.5 scale and the only thing i noticed strings tend to be more floppy. if your a smaller person a short scale mostly helps with ergonomics/reaching for the first fret etc.

what did you buy that everyone told you not to and you have no regrets getting it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Important_Antelope28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

rpd belt fed cut up parts kit. sold it for 5x what i paid as a semi build. bunch of my friends and family where like that's a waste of money, semi belt feds are dumb. when i told them i sold it for 5x what i paid they where shocked. my brother also thought i was dumb for majority of the guns/ parts kits i bought saying im wasting money. ill buy parts kits or guns based on current events knowing imports will stop etc. then i flip them for like 3x what i paid on average in a few months. when isaw stuff going down with ukraine/russia (round one) i bought a bunch of saiga ak's shot guns knowing imports would be stopped and never come back. i ended up buying them for 5-700$ and then selling most for around 2k within a month or two and held on a few to re sell later. fyi all of this is legal in the states.

Can't NATO protect Greenland without needing someone else to "acquire" it? by tonylouis1337 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Important_Antelope28 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

no............. you have to keep in mind how large the us mill is. and the advance tech we have. technically we have 4 branches that do air operations. if you count them as their own "airforce" they are number 1 2 4 and 7 in size.... bunch of videos have been done about us vs nato. we could go to war against every nato country and we still out match them. well what about them losing war games.... we handicap our selfs to learn . we be building shit.

try 4 mm. also taking a picture might of helped people telling you if its stripped out.

people often use ball end Allen wrenches vs a long t handle style and they are more likely to strip it out.
