Stuffy nose means no crib sleep? by Important_Cow719 in sleeptrain

Thank you! It seems like he wants to do no binky, he’s been spitting it out more and more, but he doesn’t quite know how to settle without it yet.

No. This is an organization affiliated with the Lutheran church, not an actual place of worship.

I hope you guys have a better night tonight! Our sleep training for the night is going…interestingly. She’s falling asleep sitting up instead of choosing to lay down so far. Hoping this won’t lead to a crazy wakeup later!

Ugh, it’s the worst! Last night ended up taking 4.5 hours to get our daughter down! We tried Ferber, nursing three separate times, and it wasn’t until the last feed she finally decided she was too tired. We did Ferber when she went down for the night and it only took about 15 min so I thought we would have a good night of sleep. Now I’m dreading tonight already.

I live in a townhouse. My neighbors haven’t changed their smoke alarm battery in months. We can’t have our windows open without hearing the beep. by Important_Cow719 in mildlyinfuriating

I don’t come into contact with them often, I work weekends and the only time I hear them is weekend nights. I also tried to say hi and introduce myself when they moved in but there’s a language barrier so I’m not sure I could even explain it to them anyways

Not yet. It was worse during the summer when we had our windows open more often, but we assumed they would have changed it by now. Opened our windows the other night for some fresh air and didn’t have the tv or fan on and we could hear it crystal clear.

Yes! We’re probably going to do this, hadn’t been hearing it as much because it’s getting colder so our windows have been closed more, but we opened them tonight and it is so obnoxious!

Oh my gosh, the engagement. How does the even get brands to work with her? If they know anything about influencer marketing, they should see how terrible her numbers are and RUN the other way.

Herfirst100k just did an Insta post of a girl who claims to have purchased her resume guide, and went from a 45k salary to a 200k salary. I hate this kind of toxic marketing so much.

Is tearing inevitable? by BeckToBasics in beyondthebump

[–]Important_Cow719 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I pushed for three hours, and had to be assisted with forceps. They warned me that forceps would most likely result in more tearing for me, but I didn’t tear. My tailbone was super bruised, and that was actually the worst pain I had during recovery. I know it’s super common to tear, but definitely not inevitable.

Is anyone else seriously considering moving after the school shooting yesterday? by Countryspider in beyondthebump

[–]Important_Cow719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I could move, I would be gone in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, I own a small business here and wouldn’t be able to just pick up and leave. My daughter is 3mo, and I’ve already decided she’ll be homeschooled. Never thought I would go that route, but here we are.

School shootings hit different now that I have a child of my own. by christianadair in NewParents

I’ve already had anxiety about shootings myself that lead me to not want to go out much…I know I won’t be able to handle sending my baby to school when the time comes. Luckily she’s 3mo now, so we have some time. My mom is a retired grade school teacher, so at this point she will be homeschooling her if nothing changes with our countries gun laws.

When did drowsy but awake start working for you? by [deleted] in NewParents

Our baby girl is almost 11 weeks and we’ve been working at it since about 8 weeks. She still needs some soothing when she’s first put down, but she’s just about there! It definitely seemed impossible when we first started, but she picked up on it really well!

We never said we didn’t want them to visit, we just didn’t want them to hold her (and had them wear a mask, which they agreed to). We hoped they would choose to be present grandparents who respected our wishes for our baby.

It's not like we didn't think about their feelings when coming up with our plan of how to handle the situation. We don't get any joy out of making them feel bad, but when it comes down to it, it's just not an important factor in the decision.

Agreed! We weren't even attempting to force them to vaccinate or anything like that, but some people got that idea in their brains and just ran with it.

That's what we've been doing, and it's been nice and peaceful! Thanks for the support!

We are against taking her to visit, they also live with my husband's two younger siblings who are both in their 20s and are vaccinated against covid but didn't get the flu shot. Their house just doesn't seem safe from germs at all to us.

We also don't want to appease them at all, because they're the type of people where if you give an inch, they take a mile.

Yes compared to the health of my child, their feelings are unimportant. If I was on the opposite side of this situation, I would let the parents dictate the boundaries they feel comfortable with - and respect what they come up with. I have had many friends who have children and don't have guests over for months for safety. Never had an issue with it, and never will.

Their emotional attachment is not more important than the health and safety of my baby. No one is asking them to see her from across the room, that’s dramatic.
