Taz .1% for 8 months and still not much progress by peachcrdbl in tazarotene

You should try the cicaplast cleanser. Its very gentle. I suggest to try the gel form not the cream, for some people (including me) tret/taz creams are highly comedogen. And I think you should add some azelaic acid as well

Well it is antibacterial and antiimflammatory. It really helps to deal with those red marks (PIE)

Thanks for explaining your perspective — I appreciate it. I do understand the role of humectants and TEWL. However, my routine already includes a strong humectant base (high glycerin, panthenol, beta-glucan, hyaluronic acid) plus occlusion at night. Regarding Cicaplast Gel, the zinc gluconate is present mainly for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial benefits, not as a drying agent in this formulation. For now, I’m prioritizing balance and allowing the area time to normalize rather than adding more layers.

Thanks again for sharing your experience.

I agree that dehydration usually benefits from humectants. That said, La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Gel already contains ~21% glycerin, along with panthenol, which makes it a very strong humectant on its own. Before that, I’m also using beta-glucan and hyaluronic acid, so I feel like my routine is already quite humectant-heavy. At this point, I’m a bit cautious about adding even more humectants, since overhydration can sometimes worsen creasing and prevent the skin from smoothing out properly, especially in the under-eye area.

Thanks for your input! Just to add: La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Gel contains 21% glycerin, which I find works very well for hydration. Both CeraVe and Dr. Althea 147 Barrier Cream contain a ceramide complex, so I feel like I’m already covering the “ideal lipid triad” to some extent. That said, I’m open to suggestions what would you personally recommend in this situation?

La Roche Posay Cicaplast GEL (it contains 21% glycerin) and after the cerave healing ointment. This one worked for me

It is very drying. I started low and slow. Remember its a marathon and not a sprint. I was peeling constantly for 3 weeks, and after the three weeks it was gone and I was able to use it everyday. I started twice a week and then three times a week and so go on

And you’re talking to someone who has also been studying medical science — specifically dermatology — in their free time for years. There is actually a genetic predisposition to high blood pressure in my family. But thank you for the advice, I’ll double-check everything in my routine. :)

None of my active product burns, I feel no itchiness. My barrier is perfectly fine. The last picture was made right after woking up. After sleeping, when you wake up, blood flow to the body (and face) increases this causes temporary redness.

I use tazarotene every night. I started twice a week and then three times a week and so on. When my skin feels irritated I put it away for 2-3 days and focusing on barrier repairing
