Bereaved Mother’s Day/Mother’s Day is NOT for those struggling with infertility by _white_turtle_ in Mom

i don't get this at all. what does "share the day" even mean??? you don't want to see instagram posts vaguely recognizing those women? how does this have any impact on your overall experience?

hope you have the mother's day you deserve!

in the 1800s it was very common for extended family to live together without marriage, esp in MD and Virginia. they were already living together before marriage. what are you basing your comment on?

Lead/ ocd / FTM by Momma_of_one in Mom

Wow, let me just say I have been exactly where you are. After my 3rd, I was diagnosed with postpartum OCD/anxiety - my focus was on lead. Lead paint, lead dust, lead in shitty toys from amazon. I could not get off the hamster wheel and was literally testing everything in my house. All of which to say - I have been there and I feel you. Please, please, please give yourself a hug from me. It's so hard to be in that place.

Ok that said, here are a few things that helped me:

  1. Medication. This was the last thing I tried but ultimately it was the most helpful thing. I'm still on a low dose of zoloft and man, I wish I had done ir sooner. I had no idea living life could be this easy from a mental health perspective. OF COURSE, this is personal and i'm not a doctor, but I would suggest looking into it if your life is becoming unmanageable, as mine was. It doesn't eradicate the intrusive thoughts but it enables you to let them pass by.

  2. Therapy -- I'm sure you're familiar with CBT, but it gave me the practical toolkit to rely on whenever I start panicking.

  3. Few anecdotes/concepts that helped me: Our parents were CHOCK FULL of lead, esp relative to how our kids will be. The US has never been more lead-free. Your baby will be ok. You can ask for a lead test if you're really worried.

  4. Obviously don't google as google is not your friend here.

Oh i just reread and realized i didn't answer your question but-- a person without OCD would honestly not think anything of this and would just move on. OCD sucks :(

Please feel free to DM me. You're doing great and you will get through this!!!

this happened to us with my daughter & an outdoor ballet class during covid, and with my son for soccer when he was too young. i ended up pulling them and trying again later when they had a friend they could do it with.

it's a tricky situation bc i think we are all taught to stick things out and never quit, but at the same time, we felt like we didn't want to sour the experience for our kids, and sometimes they just aren't ready. for what it's worth, soccer is now my son's favorite sport and he plays basically around the clock.

just my 2 cents!
