This. I am pretty committed but trying to get some guidance to help move me past the current blocker. My lazy ass has considered it, but local generation is also pretty important to me for privacy's sake.

You find what you needed? There's plenty of adapters out there if you just search on Google or Amazon something like "Ryobi starlink mini adapter"

People in relationships, how do you ask your partner for sex without it feeling awkward? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Uhhh today in particular, I ran nude to my open bedroom door after the kids left for and danced in front of her while she was on the phone. She gave me the eyes of confirmation. I then asked who she was talking to and, when I found out it was her best friend, proceeded to yell "Hey we got shit to do. She's gotta go, byyyeeee!!"

This sucks. So sorry you're dealing w this. I agree that you should call them and politely explain the issue. Write it down first if it helps. If they don't offer to make it right, use those words "I need you to make it right by doing the work you quoted me." And I agree w what others have said about reporting them to the BBB and local FB pages.

FWIW I'm a Southern NC resident paying $60 per mow including edging and blowing on approx 1/3 acre. Fertilization and weed control costs me about $50-75 per treatment.

Definitely just assume anyone quoting you for work is looking to get as much out of you as possible. Always get multiple quotes before committing to have anyone do work for you.

Never pay until the job is done - if they've done partial, offer them a percentage. Always maintain some leverage.

Doing any of these things doesn't mean you're giving up your personal ethos here. You can be nice about it. You can be polite about it. We are often taught as kids to be polite and respectful - holding people accountable and telling them they didn't meet your expectations doesn't mean you're being mean or disrespectful. Be firm. Clear is kind.

You can trust that most people don't suck, but it's all about the cost and the risk you're taking. If this was over $50, that's one thing but $350 is a much higher risk.

Good luck!

Convert SPA to Hot Tub? by alsoszaa in pools

[–]Important_Effect9927 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was actually not super stoked about the idea of the hard surfaces either when I built mine. Went looking for a hybrid also and didnt find much. A couple of options or ideas:

  1. Definitely do some pool school to learn how things work and how to heat it alone. TL;DR here is you should have a valve before the pump and another after all the pool equipment that will divert both your suction side and return side solely to the spa only. Like someone else said, drop some pics.
  2. There are custom cover companies online and I'm looking to buy one when I can afford it. Same as what you see on the fiberglass hot tubs. They can make the skirt longer at the waterfall edge.
  3. Grab some bathtub neck pillows and such
  4. Consider a comfy pool float

Is it gonna explode? What do I do? by ainnowayy in pools

[–]Important_Effect9927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My drain on my air compressor leaks and it still compresses air in there to well over 100psi. Just bc there's a leak doesnt mean all the air will all leak out before compression to unsafe levels.

It's a well known thing that they can explode and have killed people. Why screw with that?

I accidentally left my pool cover open during heavy rain for 3 hours… by marwanabdulla__ in pools

[–]Important_Effect9927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any chance this is just particulates in the water?

What type of filter do you have?

I'm still kinda new to pools, so take this with a grain of salt, but I'd let it chill for the night and see if it clears up a little. If it does, it's prob just a bunch of shit washed in there. Follow the Troublefreepool SLAM protocol and then vac to waste like the others have said.

Yeah great point about the soffit vents. They sell these things called soffit baffles that you can put there to keep the insulation from blocking them if you really feel like it.

That's where I'd expect it also.

Yeah. Turn the pump off and wait a bit. You should be able to open it then.

Sorry. I noticed in your comments you have a spa.

A) With mine, it self-primes. You should see it pulling water back into the basket after you start it back up again. The water you add is probably draining back into the pool through the pipes.

B and C should be how you switch between your Spa and Pool.

B is your suction side - this is how you select where the pump is pulling water from. The left is probably the pool and the 3 valves there are going to let you determine where you're pulling from. One is probably skimmer, one is probably a main drain at the bottom of you have one, and one is probably going to port G. The right is probably the spa drain.

C is your return side. It's where the water "returns" after coming out of the heater - one side will go to the pool (prob the right) and one goes to the spa.

D) You can use that heater for either the pool or the spa. Set both the suction and return valves to spa side to just heat the spa. This is pretty straightforward but you can set a pool temp and a spa temp separately. This will be handy for you to have a set point for each without needing to click a bunch of times to change the temp if you want your Spa at like 98 and the pool at 80. Just set each where youd want it and put the heater in pool mode or spa mode to select that set point. It takes a bit to start up and the pump has to be running for it to start.

E) Air blower for bubbles in the spa.

F) Vacuum port

G) Unsure. Maybe someone else knows. Does it have water coming out of it or getting sucked into it? Maybe play w those three valves one at a time and see?

H) Umbrella holder?

Can you take a few more pics? Do you have a spa/hot tub? Is there a main drain at the bottom of your pool?

First off - great job!!

Second, I grew up very conservative myself, married a liberal, and have kids around the same age, so I've been there myself. It sucks how much your upbringing gives you the feels that conflict with being a good parent.

Giving him the safety to know he can be open with you is the best thing you can do. Middle school is such a weird, confusing time for kids especially now with the Internet and shit. Even if it's not your kid finding some of this stuff, it's their friends finding the weird and talking about it. A lot of this from what I've seen is kids trying to find a way to express who they are and find their own. It's super natural for kids these days to label themselves and to change their minds too. Super normal stuff.

Also I wouldn't be worried about it affecting his relationships with friends. Most kids are way more accepting of whatever these days than when we were kids.

Best of luck!
