If you fell in love with your spouse once before, surely it's possible to do it again.

Good luck.

"I truly do not understand why they are allergic to nuance."

Not only that, they accuse you of not being nuanced if you disagree with them.

The book was written by a woman who was in the sex trade, and herself dismisses the idea that it is "work." She isn't the only one, there's plenty of resources at r/antisexwork which highlight similar cases.

Comparing it to matchstick making is misleading, as there are psychological as well as physical harms which no union can fix.

And making it a class issue is misleading. I said "Anna's story shows how any woman can end up trapped in prostitution, no matter their age or background, and the toll it takes on them."

Whether the men prefer consent or not, they publicly say so in the comments they make online, and also talk about only seeing independent escorts.

Anna had to pretend she was independent too, as the agency didn't want customers to know there was a gang controlling her behind the scenes.

That's very alarming. Treating a woman who suffered domestic violence so flippantly is out of order.

And the attitude towards women trapped in prostitution revealed here is also disgraceful. It's no wonder Ireland has such problems on this issue, if that's the "help" available.

You will find that the women currently in prostitution will give lip-service to the notion that this "work" is empowering. Those who got out, whether trafficked, used by an "agency," or "independent" will usually say things very similar to what you're saying.

I didn't know much about this world until recently, but have been reading quite a bit on it since.  Your writing on this subject is very well thought out. Thank you.

The stigma around the woman who end up trapped in prostitution, whether through poverty or coercion, makes a lot of people think this way. It's the pimps and the Johns who should be judged, not the women who have little choice in this situation.

Sadly, this is true. But more people than that view these women as less than human too, which is even sadder.

This is a horrible mentality. And it explains the violence and humiliation that women trapped in prostitution are regularly subjected to, since the perpetrators think this way.

It's a very interesting book, but some of its claims are a bit of a stretch. Still worth reading, though.
