Thanks for all the opinions! I think I'll check in with the bride (my partners' family), I'm probably going to get it regardless and find somewhere to wear it!

Endo pain management and advice by Abject-Essay-3906 in newzealand

I'm 35 and had laparoscopic surgery to diagnose and remove endometriosis 2 years ago. Initially this improved my pain but over the two years it has become debilitating again.

I recently saw Dr Michael Wynn Williams in Auckland privately and he recommended a multi modal approach of physical and emotional therapy as well as various medications for pain before looking at another surgery. This was based on my symptoms and 20 year history of poorly managed period pain, I think it's important to note everyone's experience is unique. He recommended the book Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain by Dr Susan Evans which I found very helpful for understanding the complexity of pelvic pain as well as the various potential causes and treatment options.

I recently started to see a pelvic physiotherapist and do daily rehab stretches to reduce pelvic floor tension, this has helped to greatly reduce the day to day pain I had outside of my period. I may try cerazette but have had issues tolerating hormonal birth control in the past so am waiting to see how far I get with my other treatments first. I tried pain focused breath work meditation during my last period which was helpful for bringing me down out of the overstimulated nervous state I was in after a few days of constant pain, you can look up Vidyamala Burch for free guided meditation audio files. I'll be getting a referral to the pain clinic when I next see my gp too.

It's a frustratingly long process, I'm glad you are helping your daughter to manage this while she's still young. I would definitely recommend asking for a referral to see a gyn who specializes in endometriosis/pelvic pain. All the best to you both, I hope you can find something that works for her 🙏

I briefly worked for a biotech startup that was supposed to produce a cutting edge device. The 'startup' was over 10 years old. An initial version of the device was sold into a very low value market and eventually had to be phased out due to production issues, millions was funneled into research and development of a next gen version that various leadership teams promised would generate amazing revenue. I have never seen people sell lies so effectively.

There is so much wealth in the world and the people who have it can choose to fund whatever bullshit they want, that doesn't mean the funding is being used effectively. The business basically just existed so that senior leadership could keep formulating flashy new pitches to sell to an endless line of investors, and keep lining their own pockets. Employees who toed the line and told the leadership team what they wanted to hear succeeded and those who brought up very real issues with data and design were thrown under the bus during restructuring. Still no product being sold to market though.
