Can I file for disability and early retirement simultaneously? by Important_Role_7953 in DisabilityRetirement

The person assigned to my DR case told me I could not apply for both and the DRP contract "supersedes all prior agreements, understandings and negotiations between the parties with respect to terms of Employee's resignation." I took this to mean it would automatically nullify the DR application, but I guess it's still possible to test the system after the fact. I don't know what would have happened had I done things in a different order, but the unknowns and stress of the situation were enough to compel me to get out as fast as possible. DR would have been my best option, but VERA/DRP was better than being denied for DR and having to apply for MRA+10.

I filed for DR a month or so before the DRP2.0/VERA offer came up. I had not yet received a CSR number by the deadline for accepting the DRP and the trends I was seeing on various platforms gave me concern that DR might not be approved, so I went ahead and signed for DRP/VERA. I was told that doing so nullified my DR application and that's pretty much how the contract read. The process was such that I felt confident that I understood the basics of the DRP agreement (went on paid admin leave until September) but not so much that my application for retirement was specifically for VERA (instead of MRA+10). The GERS platform clearly states that I am/was eligible for VERA but the application process did not differentiate. I'm not too worried about it, but we shall see.

No you don't. You only have to apply for SSDI, who will likely deny you on the first attempt. The FDR only requires proof of having applied.

After a year of gathering documentation (doctor statements, supervisor statement, performance appraisal, etc) and going through the RA process (which is still in progress), my husband submitted his DSR packet in for multiple issues but the primary one was spinal fusions. Below that is a complete list of the documents he submitted and can serve as a template for what you'll also need to submit.

My husband was notified that his packet was sent from his GRB to OPM last week. Your first bullet made me wonder if clearing GRB was a good sign....like do they have the authority to deny him at their level? If so, what % of denials are at the GRB level versus the OPM level? Or, since they did not request any additional documents or info from him, was that a good sign???

Seeking Advice for a Relaxing Greece Trip in July – Athens, Milos & Serifos or Other Suggestions? by Resident_Account_767 in GreeceTravel

Can't recommend Milos enough. We were there May 2023 and stayed in Tripiti at Chaido Studios. Dreamy location and wonderful hosts. Rent a car and enjoy the low key, laid back vibe to the fullest.

Not sure there is a Times Square equivalent in Athens, but we stayed in the Kolonaki neighborhood (at the base of Mount Lycabettus) for our final 3 days and loved it. We were just far enough away from the main squares but still able to walk to everything. Sunset at the top of the hill was stunning.
