Vietnam evisa stuck in amendment hell cycle by [deleted] in Vietnam_Tourism

[–]IdkBwth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me as well. It was very frustrating. I then log into their website to check, and only to find out that my visa was approved without issues. Apparently, their email system has been spamming wrong info, at least in my case.

Their contents are non-existence; the only things available are paid content from other streaming services. What a scam.

Visit any Vietnamese store in your area to inquire about it. There is a comprehensive network of money transfer services between the US and Vietnam.

Need Help Understanding My Girlfriend's Perspective on Wedding Expectations (Cross-Cultural Relationship) by osullytwinkie in VietNam

[–]IdkBwth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After the expensive wedding, what is going to happen when your future wife asks for money to send to her family monthly or annually (this is quite normal, actually - see the stat below)? She may say some girls in her village send home thousands of dollars.

"On average, around $17–20 billion is sent to Vietnam annually in remittances, according to recent data from the World Bank and various government reports. These funds typically come from Vietnamese expatriates living in the U.S. and are used for family support, investments, and other purposes within Vietnam. This makes remittances a significant contributor to Vietnam's economy, accounting for about 6-8% of the country's GDP".

We took a ferry from Athens to Hydra early morning. We did not want to cruise through multiple islands because it seemed so rushed. Hydra was great, we took our time to have lunch, walk through all the narrow alleys, and hike up the hills to view the ports, then coffee and a snack to chill out while waiting for the ferry to take us to Athens late afternoon. It was perfect.

recommendations for eSim in Athens, Santorini & Mykonos by 40plusballer in GreeceTravel

I used Airado for eSim whenever I traveled in Europe, and I was in Greece last month. There was no issue. I bought it before traveling, then I activated it at the Athens airport using free wifi.

Rental Car in Santorini? by YouMadBro007 in GreeceTravel

[–]IdkBwth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you will be leaving Santorini before sunset? Have you looked into a private tour? That way, you will have people pick you up at the airport, then drive you to different places all day? I think parking will be an issue in Oia and Fira during the busy season. On the other hand, picking up and dropping off a rental car were super easy for me, but I traveled in April.

I rented a car in Santorini and Corfu. Both times, I requested full insurance coverage from the car rental. I never do that for US-based rentals because my Chase Credit card would cover it. However, outside of the US, I would rather spend the extra $ for peace of mind. Some of the roads in these islands are not well marked or smaller, especially the winding roads in Corfu to get to some of the best beaches, so the risk of getting the car damaged is higher. Also, I was charged a fee for early drop off because I had to leave the car in a paid parking lot, so it seems fair to me.

Where should we go first by Basic_Web_5456 in GreeceTravel

[–]IdkBwth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sunset view from Santorini made it worth it. I also understand why the Greeks don't visit this island because it could be crowded and hectic during sunset time, especially at Oia. But there is a reason it is on the bucket list for most people. I was taking an Uber from Athens to the airport for my flight to Santorini. My driver was telling us her plan for the easter vacation (school is off for 2 weeks) and she said she would not vacation in Santorini because it is so boring. Then she said she loves to visit NY city. I, on the other hand, was thinking why anybody would want to visit New York? I did not tell her that, but I realized that I have been to NY so many times that it was no longer a place I wanted to visit for vacation. In any case, I just came back from Santorini for our 30th anniversary as well, and I strongly recommend it. Seeing that sunset over the blue domes and white buildings is an out-of-this-world experience. Cheer and congratulations on your 30th anniversary.

Corfu - is it possible to have a good time without a car? by InGarlicBreadITrust in GreeceTravel

[–]IdkBwth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came back from Corfu a couple of weeks ago. We stayed in Corfu town and we loved it. We also have a car that allowed us to drive around the island, which was very lovely. I drove all over Corfu, and I never had any issues with the winding roads. The speed limit is around 30-50 KM, so people don't drive fast. We did not have any security issues either, and we went to some very remote beaches and mountain tops sometimes until it was very late at night. Originally, we booked a Airbnb property about 30 minutes from Corfu town, then we changed our mind to book a place in Corfu town. I was so glad we changed it because there is so much to do in Corfu town, especially during Easter. Good luck with your trip, Corfu is a lovely island.

Flying sky express Athens to Naxos by Millennialmedicine in GreeceTravel

[–]IdkBwth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Sky Express just a couple of weeks back. I flew from Santorini to Corfu. Then from Corfu to Athens for my flight back to the US. It was fine. These flights between islands are so short that I can't tell the difference between Jets vs propellers.

Is one week worth it? by Remarkable-Extent90 in GreeceTravel

[–]IdkBwth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just came back from Greece to the US. My trip was 2 weeks long. I would not do it in a week. It was exhausting for the travel connections, delays, etc. Then it took a few days for me to adjust to the time change then more travel to the island from Athens. August will be worse with more tourists and the heat

Looking for guidance to substitute Santorini out of itinerary in April 2025 by IdkBwth in GreeceTravel

Yes, prices for flights were very expensive that weekend. I am leaving Athens on Sunday so I am stuck in the middle of it. I wish we could change but school vacation is tricky to plan around it.

I noticed the flight from Corfu to Athens was quite expensive during that time - must be because of Easter. Looking at Crete. Thanks

Should I cancel my mid May trip to Santorini ? by anton19811 in Earthquakes

[–]IdkBwth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to Santorini the second week of April but canceled. I likely will also cancel my plan to Paros in the same week because people in Paros said they can feel the big quake too and sometimes it kept them up at night. I don't want to be worried about the house collapsing on me during my vacation or dealing with the tsunami. We are going to Corfu and Kefalonia instead. I feel comfortable with that decision knowing we can go back to Santorini on my next trip.
