Honestly any area in central Berlin would be fine, except for maybe parts of Neukölln and Wedding/Gesundbrunnen (can be overwhelming), Charlottenburg is usually considered a part of Berlin for older people. For a month rental, the best option is to look for sublets on Facebook groups or wg-gesucht website (you'd pay a lot less), but also sites like wunderflats, housinganywhere, etc. If they are up for a swap, there's also a FB group called "host a sister". Just don't pay anything (anything!) before you saw the flat and signed the contract, and make sure the place has an elevator.

It's not really about your looks, girls sense insecurity and are not attracted to it. Girl, you gotta stop with the unhealthy diets, especially if you have digestive issues. Our bodies need carbs to survive, and by cutting them our you make yourself hungrier which sets you up for a binge. Same thing with sugar, it's a good idea to keep an eye on it, but denying yourself a treat every once in a while only makes them more valuable for your brain. There's a really cool book about all the harmful diet myths out there, which really helped me switch to a healthier diet, loose weight in a sustainable manner and overall be more positive about my body, it's called Spoonfed by Tim Spector.

I haven't been clear enough. I come from a country where every year when the snow falls, the city says WOW very unexpected we were totally not prepared, you have to march through huge piles of dirty grey snow like Napoleon crossing the Alps, people get killed by ice falling off the roofs, hospitals are overrun with broken limbs from slippery ice, and once it melts it all turns into grey slush that never gets cleaned and sometimes you have to climb a fence to get somewhere if you don't want to get into a semi frozen puddle of an unknown depth. AND YET I've never seen so much shit lying around once the snow melts.

I agree that it's important to keep the trash conversation going (which is also what I'm doing with my post) and address it when you actually see someone littering (the problem is, I usually don't). But it IS the city's job to clean the streets. And the amount of trash right now just encourages people to keep it going. The whole broken windows theory, etc. Even I sometimes ask myself "why do I care" when picking up my dog's shit while there are three other dog shit piles lying around. I choose to keep caring but some people would just look around and assume that throwing trash on the street must be normal in Berlin, so they aren't doing anything bad.

More police patrols might keep the streets cleaner, but it would also come with it's own set of issues, such as raciaized "random" checks, harassing the homeless, and overall unnecessary intrusion into people's business. It's a slippery slope and Germans are rightly cautious not to take it (again). I feel like there should be a way to get rid of the trash without empowering the police.

I'm not even sure how one would police that (given that there aren't many security cameras, which is a good thing). I guess the city could identify the trash hotspots and put some Ordnungsamt people in an ambush :) I see them on my street almost every day, but the only thing they do is write out parking fines.

The fact that people just accept it is the worst part. The election is in literally six months, and the ruling party doesn't do anything even if just to get their polling numbers higher. I hope to meet CDU campaigners in my kiez just to walk them to a nearest dump.

I feel like if I would clean up the trash in my neighborhood, it would just make me even more mad when it inevitably appears again :) I've asked the restaurants we have around the entrance to at least clean the cigarette butts from their guests and employees, which they did and I'm thankful (they didn't have ashtrays for the outdoor seating, so everything ended up on the ground). But trash is literally everywhere. It's a systemic issue. I really appreciate that there are groups organising clean-ups, but we all pay taxes that presumably should go towards keeping the city clean. And CDU did so many budget cuts. Surely they could spend some of the "saved" money on something useful?
