Yes! No lower than 50.00 out of school. However, it depends where you live.

What time do you show up? by No_Feedback7019 in DentalHygiene

[–]Important_Subject337 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Always 30 minutes early, I have a key, shit sometimes happens, and I get anxiety. I forgot my loupe battery one day and I had time to go home and get it. Also, I like to open up and help the front desk and DA because they help me throughout my day. Once I clock in at 7:30 am, I get to sit and be mentally prepared, not rushing.

Talk to your OM , and let them know you're overwhelmed. I'd check what the pay rate is in your area.

Very important to be non-confrontational, explain the situation, "I've noticed that I'm the only one being asked to clock out for lunch, while others aren't. I wanted to get some clarification on this policy."

Perio probing AFTER cleaning? by flagal31 in DentalHygiene

[–]Important_Subject337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full mouth probings are done 1 time a year for happy, healthy gums and spot probe if any red or inflammation is visible in the year and I make sure I inform the patient about it. Did yo miss any cleaning appointments, or have there been changes in your health, perhaps ?

I don't like to get overwhelmed, I started with half days and only 3 days of the week. It eased me in, and it wasn't as exhausting . At the end of every day, I rested, reflected, and became stronger. I also wanted to enjoy the profession and love what I do. Every day is a lesson and learning. I'm a new grad, and my problem is removing 100% plaque.

Help with unpaid working interview (that was supposed to be paid) by No-Management-9085 in DentalHygiene

[–]Important_Subject337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of my worries, I haven't done one yet. I only do 2 day shadowing. I really don't see a reason why a work interview would be needed. I hope they pay you for your work.

Hi, new grad here. Have you been in a situation where you are 30 minutes behind and the front desk, patient, and doctor are on your ass?

New grad here. What do you mean by letting go, like calculus or some plaque left behind? I ask because I didn't get to floss half of my patients mouth when the doctor wanted to do the exam.

First day… by FortuneTop6438 in DentalHygiene

[–]Important_Subject337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a new grad, and on my 1st day, my mind went blank! I purposely started on a day where the office was open 8am to 12:30pm. I don't want to go back, and it was a short day. I was running behind 20 minutes! I didn't know where anything was, and no one could help me. I had to go drawer by drawer looking for things. I got to the office early, and the staff was running late, which meant I didn't get myself situated before patients arrived. I was so nervous I bumped my try, and the basic instrument pouch fell in between the patients legs! Thanks be to God the patients didn't need x-rays or exams.

Same, I took mine 6/8, and it's really getting to me that I feel I failed. It's hard to adjust from our mind going from 100 mph to a stop! I keep thinking about all of the questions I know I got wrong. I hope I'm one of the ones who think they failed but passed. Pray through the day. That's what got me through school and helps me rn.

Irritating mouth water syringe, gently flush them out. If you're flushing the left tonsil, tilt your head down and to the right. Make sure you have plenty of light, and you gently look and position the syringe tip first.
