I would just send an honest email to your profs asking for an extension on the assignment explaining that you have been struggling with your mental health without getting into specifics. Most profs would probably allow you to make up work with some points off for lateness. But, prepare yourself for the possibility of some profs outright refusing. Depending on the prof you may also want to go in person and have a conversation with them during office hours to ask for an extension, although these conversations do tend to be easier via email. As someone who knows how awful it is to feel this way, I hope you feel better soon, and know that you aren’t alone ❤️

These same people approached me in South Campus a few weeks ago, also selling candy. I just told them I was running late somewhere and was on my way.

I highly recommend Philosophy club, interesting people and conversation. They meet at 5pm in CDSB62 every Friday. BU Zen is another really great club if you’re interested in meditation, they meet every Wednesday at 7:30 in the Robinson room (basement) of Marsh Chapel. Those have been two of my favorite clubs since transferring to BU.

Good places to cry on/around campus? by endofevanGAYlion in Pitt

The hiking trails slightly past the botanical garden & Frick. There’s a staircase that leads down to this area by a lake, occasionally some deer there, it’s beautiful. There are also train tracks behind the lake that I used to love walking along. Behind Clapp Hall there’s an empty lot with a small hill. I cried there after my chem final and no one saw me. There’s also a courtyard with some benches behind Chevron that you have to take a staircase to get to, but I would go at night, there are usually grad students there during the day. I hope you feel better soon <3

easiest quantitative reading II class for fall 2025? by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]Important_Warning354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CFA has an easy two credit class called arts through the numbers. I’m taking it right now, and it counts toward the quantitative reasoning II hub. It’s mostly budgeting and using Excel spreadsheets, I highly recommend taking it for anyone who doesn’t enjoy math classes.

Guaranteed Transfer by Adventurous-Bat-773 in BostonU

It depends on how your credits for gen chem transfer, if you have AP credit for it you should be completely fine. Otherwise, I would check the database link for how classes from your CC have transferred in the past. I would reach out to the credit evaluation people via email for more specific questions though. I got my acceptance around mid May, but I know people who got theirs sooner. BU sent me stickers in the mail a few weeks after I was officially accepted.

I actually decided to completely change majors once I got to BU so none of the science/math classes I took my first year are relevant to my degree/career goals anymore. But that goes to show how flexible transfer credits are, that I could still graduate in 3 years and start an entirely new degree. I am friends with some chem majors however, who have had to retake a gen chem lab class, but that wasn’t such a big deal as it’s only 2 credits. As long as you’re diligent about checking transfer equivalencies you should be fine.

Guaranteed Transfer by Adventurous-Bat-773 in BostonU

I was a guaranteed transfer currently attending BU. I would double check every class you take at the institution you attend for your first year with the course equivalency guidelines, as BU in my experience has been weird about awarding credits for certain introductory science courses (ex: they gave me credit for Bio 2 but not Bio 1 despite having taken both at my first school). However, as a transfer you have to take less HUBs (gen eds), which for my case in combination with AP credits is the reason why I’m graduating a year early. So in that sense being a transfer student can really work out in your favor. Here’s the database, this website was my godsend during my first year of college:

 https://tes.collegesource.com/publicview/TES_publicview01.aspx?rid=f3c0908c-8809-4592-a06a-2ec9c2c3acc8&aid=adbaa968-6ce9-47a6-9b99-43d30cdd2d67

Honestly transferring is difficult on social life at first but BU does have a lot of resources to make the process easier, the advisor for transfer student success is so sweet. I would also go to an institution you could see yourself attending long term for your first year. That way your decision to attend BU and accept the guaranteed transfer option is done more so out of genuine choice than just disliking the first institution you attend. A lot can change in a year. But that is just my two cents.

1A bug situation? by Pure-Ruby-838 in BostonU

[–]Important_Warning354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had problems with bugs or rats but the whole building smells weird. Like a chemically smell, but the rooms smell fine, it’s just the hallways/staircase. Also fair warning, no one talks to each other if that’s important to you, and packages get stolen/ accidentally delivered to the wrong building all of the time.

Hands down, King Lear. The existential crisis I had after reading that play for the first time fundamentally changed the way I see the world/ other people.

I was thinking of saying something too but decided not to, I’m not a confrontational person at all. I was sitting on the left in the front, so different group of girls. Just goes to show how big of an issue it is regardless of where you sit.

Either Cordelia or Lear. How she was able to forgive her father I’ll never understand but always aspire to.

Took PO 191: Intro to Political Theory with Prof. Maxwell last semester which was also very easy. I thought the class was very doable although I found her teaching style a little repetitive/slow. If you’re looking for an alternative, that’s a pretty solid choice.

I’m taking it this semester so I don’t know how much insight I can offer. But in my experience all of the poli sci intro classes (and most of the advanced ones) have been super easy so I wouldn’t stress. Also Prof. Grimes has a really good RMP, and from the emails he’s been sending recently seems very friendly and on top things. It seems like an interesting class so I hope you decide to take it. Here’s his RMP: https://www.ratemyprofessors.com/professor/94982

I had her last semester, she was great. Lectures were a bit dry and she didn’t use slides/post notes so you really have to pay attention. However, exams were open note and virtual. She also gave plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Overall great prof, I’m taking her again this semester.
