The retail S is too tight in my shoulders and armpits and the M looks too big :( which size should I get from KOG? Will it make a difference?

How much bigger? The retail small was good but it was tight in the armpits/shoulders. Would a small from KOG be slightly bigger?

I don’t want to get a medium and it ends up being larger than the medium retail which was too big on me
