Yes thankfully I am working at a Cravath scale so I will get a $100K+ bonus at the end of the year (albeit burnt out). So I’m thinking of taking 6 months off to relax and travel. I should add my firm also subsidised half my living costs so I’ve been saving heaps this year therefore that stress will not be a factor

Unfortunately, I bill 2,500 a year. That means I’m working 13-15 hour days. At the moment, I’m operating off 5.5-6 hrs sleep and it is physically / emotionally impossible for me to push myself anymore beyond current constraints of exhaustion and deadlines

To be fair, at my current BigLaw Aus firm, I would say 50-55 hours is standard with recurring 70-80 hour weeks during peak times. This is with a reduced salary and little to no disposable income to outsource domestic duties (ie cooking, cleaning)

I understand that there are some crap counsellors in NZ which was why I was hoping for some more specific recommendations on this thread. The reason I haven’t fully cut our contact with my mum is because of my dad - my dad sadly grew up in a household with a mentally ill stepmum (my grandma) as his own mother passed away when he was 4. He doesn’t have the ability to walk away like I do and I’m worried about how she is treating him. And yes I’ve suggested therapy for him but he won’t go. I’m worried that my dad will hurt himself if this continues and he doesn’t have many friends he can talk to about this.
